Great Movie & Really Good 3D
on October 16, 2011

The movie is great for the whole family and the 3D is done very well. This is a good one for your library!
What's great about it: Story, Hi-def clarity, 3D
What's not so great: Having to wait for TV & Studios exclusive arragements...
I would recommend this to a friend!

Chip amp isn't up to the cut - Returned
By MomentaryLapseOfReason from Chicago IL
Next time you're shopping for receivers, pick up a $400 unit. No, I mean physically, pick it up. Now, walk over to a $2000 unit. Feel that? I am by no means saying to buy a $2000 receiver, but don't rely on "power ratings". The receivers that physically weigh more will always sound better and have higher outputs. Google discrete solid state vs chip amps.
First of all, this is almost a scam. They rate the amplifiers in this at 6 ohms. Secondly, after some quick tests, it isn't even pushing close to the rated power.
I returned this unit in favor of the AVR-X4000. While numbers seem to be "close", it is able to drive my Klipsch KLF-30s effortlessly. This unit.... not so much. AT ALL.
If you're using this for a set of satellite/powered sub setups and only care about movies, it might be "ok". Otherwise, spend the extra hundred or two and get a good receiver.
