A rare "giallo" film from director Lucio Fulci. Fulci was known more for his zombie films, but has some great "giallo" thrillers ever. Florinda is amazing in this film!!! Very psychedelic in its presentation. A must for Italian horror/giallo specific fans. Other great Fulci giallo gems: "New York Ripper", "Seven Notes in Black (aka The Psychic)", "Perversion Story" and "Don't Torture a Duckling".
Finally, Dario Argento's giallo masterpiece sees a proper DVD release! This comes in second to his best work work, "The Bird with the Crystal Plumage".
This film is considered a "Giallo" film. "Giallo" were made popular by mystery/thriller writers such as Edgar Wallace and Agatha Christie. However, "Giallo" films were more gruesome in their delivery.
"Four Flies on Grey Velvet" is a must in your horror/thriller collection!!! Anyone new to Argento's work, this one (as well as, "Suspiria", "The Bird with the Crystal Plumage", and "Tenebre") are great ones to start with.
What's great about it: Long overdue release on DVD
One of Lucio Fulci's best films. The film provides gore, drama, and fright. It would have been great to see what Fulci might have done today, but sadly that is not to be. Also recommended by Fulci: The Beyond, Don't Torture a Duckling, and A Woman in a Lizard's Skin. This is a great start.
