Perfect TV for my family wants and needs!
on April 12, 2017
Posted by: Sanookdi
Wanted a small TV for our living room that didn't scream "TV!" and could blend into the decor; this was the perfect choice. Main uses are for morning kids cartoons and catching the news. Don't be bothered by the 720p resolution in the world of 4K TVs; at 24-inches 720p is fine and clear and you would hardly get any additional benefit if it was 1080p or 4K at this size.
The TV is lightweight and thin and the white color of the TV gives it a premium look and feel. The remote is also lightweight and has every button you need to function this TV.
The built-in smart TV function works good but a little slow. The interface is nice and has every major streaming service you need (Netflix, amazon, hulu, vudu, googleplay, and youtube). You can download additional apps from a limited selection but you cannot search for other apps outside of that limited selection to download so I was disappointed that MLB.tv was not included. You can always plug-in a separate streaming device that fits your streaming needs better.
Overall this is a great little TV. I did encounter one stuck/dead green pixel on my unit, but you could only see it if your face was right up at the screen; from our normal viewing distance it was not noticeable at all.

Awesome 4K HDR TV w/ some minor drawbacks
on December 9, 2016
Posted by: Sanookdi
First off, I must say that this HDTV is an amazing value if you got it at the Black Friday price. I've had this TV for over a week now and for the most part I am happy with it.
I originally had bought the 60-inch KS8000 but it was a little too small for my basement and also had light-bleed, so I upgraded to this 65-inch KS8500 with the curved screen. While the curved screen doesn't really enhance the viewing experience all that much (to me at least), the curve combined with the excellent design of the TV makes for a nice presence in our basement family room.
It took me a week but I've finally found the right picture settings that to my eye give me the best picture quality in both a brightly lit room and an almost dark room. That said, 1080p and 4K content looks amazing and so does HDR, though I'm not completely sold yet on HDR. I guess you can't complain about images/pictures looking more "life-like" with millions of colors added in HDR over the standard 4K, but it comes at the expense of the screen being so brightly lit that my eyes get fatigued from looking at it after a while. Eh, maybe it's just old age ;-) But the 4K and HDR makes this TV future proof so I'm glad to have it.
The reason I only gave it 4-stars is because I'm experiencing a little light-bleed from the bottom of the display. This is somewhat common with edge-lit TVs, which this one is. The 60-inch KS8000 I had prior to this had the same light-bleed coming from the bottom of the display, but it was much worse. The light-bleed I'm experiencing from my 65-inch is much less; still noticeable BUT so far tolerable. I only see it when there are green, blue or gray colors at the bottom of the screen; I don't see it or notice it when there are black colors, which is surprising. So regarding that, I'm sure not all 65KS8500 owners will experience this and maybe I'm just OCD about it b/c my wife doesn't really notice it and my kids don't care. My only other knock against this TV is that the Tizen OS (Smart TV) software is a little sluggish at times. There's also delays when trying to open some apps and movies/shows, but that could be due to Internet coverage, so make sure you have a strong wi-fi connection!
Overall I would recommend this TV to anyone that wants to have excellent picture quality, good looking TV design and a future proof investment!

Sound

I should add that the built-in speakers have decent sound. You can definetley live with it and if you decide to get a sound bar then that's a bonus.

Best TV I ever owned.

Only reason it's not 5star is cause there are no 4K broadcast (yet). Also, audio/speaker not so good and really requires soundbar or hook up to a stereo (which requires d-to-a converter).

It's not really the TVs fault there's no regular 4K broadcasting yet. You're simply getting it to future proof when there is.

Don't buy if you have DirecTV
By Crazy8tes from Detroit, MI
Note I have the exact same issues with 2 Samsung TV's. Both this series. One 55" the other 65". So it's not a one off issue. I have DirecTV and use the built in Genie box. It makes the tv unusable. One if you use the remote that is included you litteraly cannot do everything. Second it crashes all the time. When you unplug and restart you loose all your saved favorites. The Genie will not even start half the time. When it does start and you are watching TV it crashes. When everything is working, and you have a separate universal remote it so slow it's not usable. 5-10 seconds to page down in the guide.
Sadly the Genie (RVU) setup is the only way to get 4K over DirecTV. That is the reason I got these TV's. But it is not worth it.

Great value for the money
By Elterrible from Tampa
First things first, yes this TV is actually a 10bit display that supports the HDR10 standard! Rtings tested this to be true, don't believe those telling you it isn't, it is an actual HDR 4K Set! It is not a Dolby Vision HDR12 set however.
Picture quality is excellent under most circumstances and only the brightest of rooms will have any issues viewing the TV at all. It is rated at about 3000 nits of peak brightness (this is one reason why it doesn't meet the Dolby Vision specs).
Viewing angles are a bit narrow on the set and the brightness / contrast of the set will tend to be fall off a little bit as you walk from the center of the TV to the side of the TV. It isn't a horrible falloff, but if you're looking for it, you will notice it.
Contrast is also very good on the screen and with HDR on, you can see it doesn't suffer at all.
The sound on the TV actually has 3 presets for distance form the wall and this is huge, because it allows you to control the distortion from the rear mounted speakers.
The inputs are all HDMI 2, but it seems to be having issues with the PS4 Pro when the PS4 Pro is set to HDCP 2.2.
The software on the TV has some excellent features and you can watch 4K content form VUDU, Netflix, Amazon, and several other sources right through the built in apps. However, the controls for the TV are lacking at best, as moving through the menus is a pain and there's no input button on the remote at all!
Overall I'm very pleased with the set and having bought it for $719 I really have no major complaints about the TV at all. The value is great and only the most picky videophiles will even care about any of the sets shortcomings.

Ok, but not as clear as plasma
By Steveeeee
I've have only been a plasma TV person but they are hard to find in the larger size. I replace my Samsung 60in Plasma with this and the picture is not as clear, especially when there is allot of motion on the screen. It is OK for the price but I probably should have waited and purchased an OLED TV as I understand their refresh rates are better which provides better pictures for sports, action scenes, etc.

This is an entry level TV
January 6, 2017
You cannot compare this TV to plasma or OLED! Those 2 types represent the best in HDTV technology, LCD LED is mid-level unless it has a full-array local dimming backlight. For an entry level TV, this is a great choice. You get what you pay for.

Excellent color , very crisp picture

The TV was easy to setup, but after using for a while we noticed we weren't getting the edge of the picture on the screen. We tried using the controls for aspect ratios with only partial success. Other than that the picture is great.

Impressive colors and darks create the ultimate viewing experience from this LG Signature OLED TV W, often referred to as “Wallpaper TV” features a design so impossibly thin and light that it attaches to the wall. Each pixel is precisely reproduced by the OLED technology, creating the perfect color each time, and Active HDR produces breathtaking scenes. Smart connectivity lets you play a variety of apps on this LG Signature OLED TV W.

Not worth the money
By KevinR
For sure this is a neat unit... heavy TVs are, well, too heavy. But this price is introductory gimmickry for the rich and gotta-show-off crowd. Don't waste your money. The price will drop severely in the future. CONS: (1) It sits flat on the wall---thus, you can't tilt or adjust the viewing angle. This is a BAD thing, not a good one, unless your room and seating is designed for this setup. (And a capable carpenter could effectively flush mount any flat screen for the same effect). (2) The too-short cable doesn't make a lot of sense, and tethering the pricey unit to a sound bar also makes little sense---buyers who can afford this unit would certainly have a much better surround system already.
I'd personally prefer to have a very light weight (3-10 pounds) panel that mounts on a traditional tilt/swivel mount. The "cool" factor doesn't outweigh the price and loss of adjustable viewing angle. And I'd bet the picture isn't equal to much cheaper units.
That said, I'm excited to see this thin technology finally hit the market and I look forward to better and cheaper iterations in the future.

Have the best viewing angles with no loss of color saturation when compared to VA panel LCDs. Also, why even post if you don't own it. C'mon Bestbuy monitor these things.

Using Android technology, this Sony 4K HDR TV includes an array of film, TV and app choices. This 75-inch ultra-slim design features wall mounting or tabletop display, with wires hidden cleanly behind the console. The 4K technology in this Sony 4K HDR TV produces coloring similar to natural lighting.

Amazing Picture Great for Gaming
By Fireguy130
Geek Squad did an amazing job installing and was very professional and neat. The TV is amazing with great picture and blows playing my PS4 out of the water with amazing resolution. One thing I did notice and will be calling the geek squad about is when there is a darker scene or not enough light in the room the corners have like a grey bleeding to it. Other than that the TV is phenomenal

I bought it and didn't get the warranty, like an idiot! We just bought a house and were fixing it up so it stayed in the box for a few weeks. When we got it out of the box and watched it, it was fine. It stopped working after 5 hours! The black light, I believe, went out out and now we have to wait 10 business days for vizio to replace it. Warning...don't buy!

Why is it when streaming some 4K content on Netflix like for example the show Narcos in low light scenes the picture looks kind of grainy? Is this a setting that I can adjust ? I leave it on Dynamic mode. Any suggestions ? Is the TV defective??

Yikes, take it off Dynamic mode! Standard or Movie modes are what most people use. Adjust settings from there.
