Have you ever met anyone that had an impact on everything around them? Did you ever suspect that maybe they weren’t of this world? Well if you have or haven’t; meet John Monad (Austin Nichols). He’s a strange but likeable guy. John arrives one day and the problems of the Yost family seem to have more meaning and make them question what they want from life. John repeats phrases heard around Imperial Beach seemingly rambling incoherently but people can see a deeper meaning to his words. He unites a community of people who on the surface hate each other but realize they are all very much alike.
John tags around as a surf student of former pro surfer Butchie Yost (Brain Van Holt). Butchie has fallen off and fallen hard, getting hooked on heroine and letting his life fall apart. John seems to arrive just in time to withdraw the exact amount of money from his pocket for Butchie to repay his debts and live another day. Butchie also finds that he doesn’t need his crutch with john around earning him a permanent place with the family. Many more amazing things happen around John. People float in mid air, a hotel that was once condemned is being remodeled by a recent and eccentric millionaire, Wounds miraculously disappear, and John begins to materialize when needed.
Former DEADWOOD producers and creators David Milch and Greg D. Feinburg are back on HBO with a new vision and an all-star cast. Luke Perry returns to the small screen as sleazy surf Sponsor. Ed O’Neil plays a widower ex-policeman and bird enthusiast who seems to doubt John’s good nature. Luis Guzman plays the caretaker of the hotel where Butchie lives. Bruce Greenwood and Rebecca De Mornay play Butchie’s parents as well as former surf legend Mitch Yost and his wife. Real life Pro-surfer Keala Kennelly also has a role in the show. With a cast like this and a concept never before seen on television this show is will not disappoint!
What's great about it: Great cast, Spectacular Writing, Interesting characters.
What's not so great: not many episodes, vauge at times.

The Lost is based on a novel with the same name by Jack Ketchum. Ray Pye is a charming, intelligent, and sadistic individual. He discovered his thirst for blood when he murdered two women on a whim. Four years later he still feels the urge to end the lives of anyone who stands in the way of what he wants. Ray is popular with the ladies, but you can't always get what you want and this is a problem for Ray. The authorities are sniffing at his tail and the tension is mounting. Ray must get his release one way or another. All bets are off when he realizes that he cannot have the woman he wants, his friends are scared of him, and his urge to kill has returned. The riveting conclusion to the film is a mercilous rampage throughout a small town. No one is allowed to stand in Ray's path on his quest to get what he wants. Ketchum's words and the character of Ray Pye are brought to life in this thrilling homicidal thrill ride.

Surf's Up!
Surf's Up may look like yet another penguin movie, which it is, but it's jam packed with stars! Jeff "The Dude" Bridges & James Woods star along-side the talented and seemingly unavoidable Shia LaBeouf and endearing Zooey Deschanel. This film is fun to watch for both the young, old, and those in between. Its chock full of witty banter and a story that is reminiscent of the films we all grew up with. This film is definitely worth checking out!
What's great about it: Cast, humor, and great animation
What's not so great: short, predictable
