I first heard this band because they happen to be on the same tour as a band that I am a fan of. My first impression of them was that of a school boy going into his first arcade.
Not only is the music captivating, but the lead singer's vocals or extraordinary for this genre of music. At times the singing is very operatic with notes so high it would make bruce dickinson's ears bleed. Throw in a little bit of Dream Theater off-time signatures into the mix and add a guy screaming about random things that I don't really understand and you have "Dance Gavin Dance". I have seen them live and believe me, the live show is just as good if not better than the cd. Innovation is key here. This band knows exactly what they're doing and they're all barely old enough to drink. So, if you're tired of listening to the same junk that the radios rotate every hour, pick up this cd and lose yourself in it's gentle persuasion.
For fans of Hopesfall, A Static Lullaby, Underoath, Chiodos, Armor for Sleep, A Sklit Drive, Terminal, ...etc
"Weird Al" Yankovic makes his starring debut in the wacky 1989 comedy UHF. MGM has done a fine job on this 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer. While some of the colors appear slightly washed out, overall, this is a well-produced transfer with solid black levels and bright fleshtones. The audio is presented in Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround in French and English as well as Dolby 2.0 Mono in Spanish. The 2.0 mix works well within the confines of the film, though in all actuality, it's a fairly weak and flat soundtrack. All aspects of the dialogue, effects, and music are free and clear of any distortion or hiss. Also included on this disc are English, French, and Spanish subtitles. MGM has gone the extra mile with this cult classic by producing a nice array of extra features. Starting off the disc is a commentary track by Yankovic, director Jay Levey, and actors Michael Richards, Victoria Jackson, and Emo Phillips. This is a very funny commentary which includes all the participants poking fun at themselves and the film. A collection of deleted scenes with introductions by Yankovic are a hoot while the music video for the song "UHF" features parodies of rock stars like Billy Idol and Prince. Finally, there is a gallery of promotional materials (including stills, trailers, and posters) and a short behind-the-scenes montage with interviews that should please fans. All in all, this is a fun disc that was given the appropriate amount of love and work.

I don't think I could write a review that would be give this film justice. Whether or not you're a fan of Weird Al Yankovic, you can still watch this movie and laugh at it for hours. Made in 1989, the movie pokes fun at many movies made years before it such as "Indiana Jones", "Conan the Barbarian", and many more. And to make matters funnier, The Janitor in the movie is played by future Seinfeld star Micheal Richards. A portrayal of a man who loves his mop has never been done so well by any other man.
The movie is about George Newman(Al Yankovic) who goes from job to job never finding one that he enjoys and gets fired constantly. He and his co-hort Bob(David Bowe) ease into the position of owning a cable channel that his uncle Harvey(Stanley Brock) wins in a poker game. And from there the cast of characters of unfold into this unbelievable assault of jokes.
I recommend this movie to everyone. It's one of my top 5 favorite movies of all time. Go watch it now. Don't wait.
What's great about it: Extremely funny storyline, outrageous jokes, Fantastic Soundtrack
The third movie in it's series, this film begins in a fair that is designated for upcoming graduating seniors. Right off the bat there are scary premonitions of a possible disaster waiting to happen. As Wendy Christensen(Mary Elizabeth Winstead) approaches a horrifying roller coaster she has a terrible vision of a crash, and that's just the beginning. Just like in the first two films, death creeps around every corner watching like a hawk waiting for the kill. She and Kevin Fischer(Ryan Merriman) evade all types of situations that could lead to their ultimate demise. The death scenes are outrageous. The ending is unexpected, and the "choose their fate" option in the dvd menu is stellar. It's not as good as the first two Final Destination movies, but I definately recommend it to anyone who loves movies where teens die. Literally.
What's great about it: Killer Death scenes, nudity,
