Best album of 2006

This album is great. The 17-minute "Tetragrammaton" is a highlight, as is "Meccamputechture," "Viscera Eyes" and "Day of the Baphomets." The other songs are good too, and no track is worth skipping. Highly recommended.

Good live album.

The version of "Take the Veil" and "Concertina" are much better than their album versions. "Cicatriz" is good -- the verses and choruses aren't quite as good as the album version, but the new material is excellent (it's about half an hour longer here than on "Deloused in the Comatorium"). I didn't think much of any of the other tracks, which are just weird live jams. Recommended.
What's great about it: some excellent renditions
What's not so great: the in-between tracks

The "Frances The Mute" b-side is excellent, aside from the 4.5 minute intro. The radio edit of "The Widow" is the same as the album version, but the last 2.5 minutes of the weird organ are cut off, which makes the song better. Highly recommended.

Superior album

This album is great. It takes a few listens to sink in and some of the ambient noise goes on for way too long, but it's such an excellent album. The opener "Cygnus... Vismund Cygnus" and "L'Via L'Viaquez" are my favorite songs. The 32-minute "Cassandra Gemini" is a great way to end the album. Highly recommended.
What's great about it: excellent songs
What's not so great: too much ambient noise

Package Description: The Hill Family is back, and Arlen, Texas, has never been wilder or funnier! From love triangles to gay rodeos, through beer shortages and Vietnam flashbacks, and from Mexico to Japan by way of the Renaissance Faire, this is King of the Hill's craziest season yet! Did we mention Jimmy Carter? How 'bout Hand and Nancy grilling burgers together in the nude? It's all here... and more! Life in Arlen will never be the same!

My favorite episodes of this season include "The Father, The Son and J.C." "Father of the Bribe," "Joust like a Woman," "Tankin' it to the Streets," "Of Mice and Little Green Men," "Man Without a Country Club," "Beer and Loathing" and "Dang Ol' Love." "Dang Ol' Love" might be absolute favorite. It's the episode where Boomhauer actually falls in love with a woman who doesn't like him. Highly recommended.
What's great about it: excellent season
What's not so great: no special features, double-sided discs

Later, while Bobby wishes he were older, Dale sues the tobacco company in an attempt to get money for his wife's face-lift so she can look younger. But the real horror comes when Hank gets devastating news about his birth and the future of his pick-up truck!

"The Perils of Voting," "Spin the Choice," "What Makes Bobby Run?" "Chasing Bobby," "Now Who's the Dummy?" "Hank's Choice," "It's Not Easy Being Green," "Kidney Boy and Hamster Girl: A Love Story" are my favorite episodes of this season. This was an excellent season of the show, which showed no signs of a decline in quality. Highly recommended.

This was a great season. I love the continuity of this show. Season 3 ended with Peggy jumping out of a plane with a non-working parachute. In this season, the first few episodes are about her struggles of learning to walk again. Most other shows would ignore this, and she would be fine immediately afterwards. I really appreciate this continuity, and combined with the hilarity of the show, it makes for one of the best television shows of all time. Highly recommended.

Great show continues in season 3

After the abundance of special features on the first two seasons, "King of the Hill" season three has no special features and double-sided discs. However, the show had absolutely no decline in quality until its much later seasons. "Nine Pretty Darn Angry Men" might be my favorite of this season, but it's hard to choose. Highly recommended.

Mike Judge's hilarious animated celebration of a man who loves his country, his family, and propane (not necessarily in that order) gets the royal treatment for its release on DVD. King of the Hill: The Complete Second Season has been transferred to disc in its original full-frame aspect ratio of 1.33:1. The audio has been mastered in Dolby Digital Surround; in addition to the original English-language soundtrack, alternate Spanish-dubbed tracks also appear, as well as optional subtitles in English and Spanish. Bonus materials include commentary tracks on selected episodes from the show's writers and producers, as well as "in character" commentaries from the show's cast members. The show's directors also provide introductions to many of the episodes. Other goodies include additional scenes, animatics, and alternate endings; a guide to drawing the King of the Hill characters yourself; music videos; selections from the book The Boy Ain't Right; and more.

Maybe the best season of the show.

This season was great. My personal favorite episode is "Husky Bobby," in which Bobby becomes a fashion model. This 4-disc DVD set includes many special features, but my favorite is the deleted scenes section. There are 197 deleted scenes for this season. They range from a minor extra line of dialog to a full scene. Truly great television. Highly recommended.

This three-disc set contains all 13 episodes from the first season of the animated series King of the Hill. Each is presented in the original broadcast aspect ratio of 1.33:1. English and Spanish soundtracks are rendered in Dolby Digital Stereo. Subtitles are accessible in both of those languages as well. The generous and highly entertaining extra materials include episode commentaries from people involved in the shows, as well as from the characters themselves. Listening to Peggy and Bobby's discussion of how they feel about cameras following them around all the time are priceless. Deleted scenes, a behind-the-scenes featurette, and a music video from Barenaked Ladies are all worthy of a viewer's time. There are many interesting hidden features including a list of do's and don'ts for the animators on how to make the characters look more realistic. 20th Century Fox has done an outstanding job on these episodes. This is one of the best television box sets on the market.

This is one of my top 5 favorite shows, and its first season is great. We are first introduced to Hank, Peggy and Bobby. The DVD includes some interesting special features, including a documentary and deleted scenes. Highly recommended.
