John Fogerty has hit a homerun with this one. While he intentionally strayed from his Creedence swampy sound on his most recent albums, this time he surrounds every song with sounds that the listener can immediately identify as those that only Fogerty can make. The return to that sort of writing and that sound is well done and at no point does it sound like he is trying to live off past glories; instead, it sounds like an artist who has decided that the time is right to reclaim a genre of music that is his and his alone. Anyone who is even just the most casual CCR or Fogerty fan will thoroughly enjoy every minute of Revival.
What's great about it: Strong songs, great playing, great singing, return to his roots
