The ClearStream 4V HDTV Antenna uses patented technology to receive TV signals 70 miles away from broadcast towers. Ideal for suburban and rural areas where heavy foliage or roofing materials reduce the incoming signal. The dedicated UHF and VHF multi-directional elements deliver range and reception in less than ideal locations. The ClearStream 4V comes with mounting hardware and a 20in. mount with a pivoting foot to allow installation on vertical or horizontal surfaces.

We live in the northern section of the Dallas / Fort Worth area. Even though we have cable available, I wanted get over the air access as a backup for cable and for some of the additional stations that are available. Those additional stations include some 24 hour weather and some “golden oldie” shows. I first went to antennaweb.ord to see how far I was from the transmitters. I knew that almost all the DFW stations had their transmitters south of Dallas near Cedar Hill. Antennaweb said that I might be able to receive as many as 89 channels from 35 over-the-air stations. I found that 30 of those stations were between 35 and 38 miles from our house at 189 or 190 degrees. Based on a visit to the store, I was looking at the ClearStream 2V and 4V models. Based on the mileage, it looked like the less expensive 2V model should work. I also read some reviews which indicated that a radiant barrier in your attic could affect reception. (Our house has a radiant barrier and our HOA prohibits outside antennas.) With that in mind, I decided to go with the 4V model. As for installation, I just mounted the included J mount on a small piece of a 2x6 board which I set on the attic floor. By doing this, the antenna is actually sitting below the radiant barrier. It also gave me the advantage of being able to easily point the antenna in any direction. After installation I scanned for stations and was able to receive a total of 80 channels from 23 over-the-air stations. The picture from the major stations is excellent and by using the digital audio out on my TV I can receive the audio through my home theater system. (The picture for some of the secondary channels is only SD quality.)
Keep your Wi-Fi connection strong anywhere in the house with this NETGEAR router. Monitor your network with the NETGEAR genie app, keep track of your kids with parental controls, and use multiple devices simultaneously for downloading, gaming and more
This is the second Netgear router that I've had to return.
I bought it for my daughter who was getting setup in her new apartment.
I wasn't able to use the installation CD since it doesn't support Mac OS Lion, but that was not a show stopper. I just went to the Netgear web site for manual configuration instructions.
The next morning my daughter called to say that her network was "down."
Here wireless was down and she couldn't even log into the router using an ethernet cable.
She had to power the router off and back on to get connected.
The same thing happened again that afternoon.
We fought with the router for the next week. During that time I upgraded the firmware, but that did not help.
Over the two week period the wireless network never stayed up more than 24 hours.
Sometimes we could log in to the router via ethernet cable, but not always. In each case we had to power the modem off and on to bring the wireless network back up.
I finally took the router back and exchanged it for a Linksys brand.
That router has been up and running almost a month without any issues.
What's great about it: Nothing
What's not so great: It won't stay up for more than 24 hours at a time

Great Speakers in a Small Package

I purchased these speakers along with a Denon AVR-3808 CI. They replaced a 5 year old Yamaha system and speakers. When I bought my Yamaha system about 5 years ago, I was impressed with how the surround sound put in in the middle of the action. I remember watching a movie where a dog ran into the picture. I could hear him bark from the right rear and as he entered the picture his barks moved "across" the room to the left front. After purchases these speakers and the Denon system, I found that my Yamaha system was only giving me the "tip of the iceburg" when it came to surround sound. Not only was the sound much more realistic, but the separation was much more distinct. Soon after installing the new system, I was watching a re-run on TV. A character left the scene and drove off. I heard the car start in the left rear of the room and then it "drove" off from left to right behind me. Now the caveat: How much of this improvement was from the new Denon receiver and how much was due to the speakers? I can't really answer that, but I can say I am very satisfied with the two products working together.
