digital cable ready tvs
Why are the LCD TV's not digital cable ready no matter what price you pay?
Digital Cable Ready was a big thing a few years ago. I bought a Toshiba Cinema Series DLP TV that was digital cable ready and used a cable card with it for about a year. I had nothing but problems. All channels would not work consistently, the TV Guide function had many problems. Overall, I think the cable companies don't want to make any investment in getting cablecards to work properly and would rather rent you their own boxes at much higher rates. I think the technology is changing too fast as well. One major drawback of cablecards is they do not allow two way communication so things like Pay Per View and On Demand do not work so not enough customers bought into the cablecard trend. As a result, most TV manufacturers have abandoned cablecards.
