This album is a great compilation of this 10 year span of Frank Blacks single career. It shows Blacks great ability to be a song writer, something that i feel many people don't recognize him for. The first disc is all basic studio music, with some very good songs. But the second disc with just a few songs, is amazing. The sound of Franks voice shows passion and his fantastic showmanship. But this also shows the weakness of some of his studio music. For example he has the song "terrible ways" on both cds, and the live version sounds great, and it is a hard rock song. But the studio version is very slow and sounds like wishy washy soft rock that is no good. But overall it is a must-own album for any alternative rock fan.
What's great about it: Second Disc is Live music, and it is awesome.
What's not so great: some of the studio stuff is OK
This is the album that made me fall in love with this band. Every single song on here is filthy, from begining to end. Isaac Brock's lyrics are spine-tingling, as are the guitar riffs and drums. I can't say enough good things, so im just gonna stop and let the music do the talking.
What's great about it: Amazing lyrics, great sound, catchy, changes the way you look at the world.
What's not so great: Not really for the close minded.
This is the latest album from Modest mouse and it is by far their worst. Although saying its the worst should not take away from this CD because all of their others are phenomenal. I would recommend this CD to anyone who is a fan of Alternative rock, or any modern rock. I personally like the older stuff better, but this is still a high quality cd. Upon hearing some bootlegs of some of their newer songs, they sound like they are getting away from this pop sound, which should be good.
What's great about it: Isaac Brock's voice and lyrics
What's not so great: a more pop-like sound than before
