Four years ago I went from a 36" Toshiba tube TV to a Panasonic plasma. I vividly recall the first time I turned on the plasma and being blown away, very much the same "leap" experience with the XBR-43X800D. The user interface is polished from the moment you push the power button on this 4K beauty as it gracefully guides you through the setup process.
We're only using Netflix and a $60 Blu-Ray player for content and the upscaling is truly impressive. Things will only get better when hopefully 4K really takes off. And let's not forget overall appearance, this is one thin sexy TV! Love the stand with the cable hiding features, leaves all the competitors in the dust.
The only weak point is the same as the old Panasonic where the default picture setting choices while good are not great. Good news is the calibration settings in the link below are spot on perfect. Look forward to seeing other settings in future reviews specific to the 800D's. Can't go wrong with this one!

Cannot complete setup without Android device
Byrouwerkerk
It turns out that without an Android device you can not complete the setup. You cannot bypass the setup 'wizard' pages and just use the TV for an input source, or get to the setup menu for a firmware update. I spent 40 minutes with Sony support chat. The TV keeps looping back to the black start page with 'SONY', and then progresses to language choice, Wifi setup (successful) or Android page before it loops back to the start. Best Buy now has the TV to fix it with the use of an Android device. A firmware update may fix it. Fingers crossed. This has happened to other customers at the Best Buy and neither Sony nor Best Buy warns customers that this TV should not be bought by customers who do not have an Android device. Is it not time to produce and App for iPhone or iPad that has the same functionality and why do we need to do a Android related setup if we only want to watch a DVD Apple TV or antenna input?

It set up just fine for me with an iPad which is only to sync to Google account.
