I finally have a minion! He doesn't do much, but he's cute!
What's great about it: Cute!
What's not so great: Just sits there and smiles, but doesn't do much.
I would recommend this to a friend!

An excellent American remake of a foreign film!

There is not enough space here to write how I feel about this movie. I've seen the Swedish original several times and really enjoyed the different "remake" of a vampire movie. It's very dark, cold, isolated, and original. I've read the translated book to get a better "feel" of the the characters. Normally most "American" remakes of foreign films never do the original justice, but I thought the approach to this was excellent. The storyline stayed true to the original (with a few "minor" alterations). There was so much symbolism that I could go on for quite some time as to what (I felt) the movie had to say about good and evil. If it were up to me to come up with a catch phrase for the movie it would be: "If evil is the only thing that can save you, is it truly evil?" I think my favorite scene in the movie is when Owen comes to Abby's apartment for the first time and is looking around and sees the strip photos of Abby and her guardian as a young boy his age. Not only does it give a sense of history, it also gives a sense of foreshadowing to Owen as he contemplates his future relationship to Abby. Is he doomed to the same fate? Excellent performances especially by Cody and Chloe!
What's great about it: There is so much originality and symbolism that each time you see it there is more to think and to talk about.
What's not so great: We, as Americans, felt the need to make a "remake". But at least we didn't screw it up.
I would recommend this to a friend!
