Surprisingly good sounding

I ended up buying the Beats Solo 2 five days after taking home the Bose Sountrue OE (I also posted a review of the Bose). The local BB continues to ignore its broken Beats headphones display music apparatus, making sound comparison a no go. I was quite happy with the Bose but kept wondering how the Beats Solo 2 sounded. I knew the only way I could be fully content with my Bose purchase is to go back and get the Solo 2 and REALLY compare the two. This is my very first Beats headphones as I was hesitant in jumping the ubiquitous Beats headphones band wagon. In addition, after watching and reading many reviews of Beats headphones, I was concerned that the bass would overpower the rest of the music. Being an owner of a few Bose products, I am quite surprise to say that the Beats actually sounded nearly similar to Bose Soundtrue OE in sound emphasis and quality. I really, really like how these Beats headphones sounded. Bass is fine tuned and balanced with the rest of the instruments and vocals. Mids and highs are also crisp and strong. I can confidently say that the Solo 2 was musically engineered to cover all genre of music, not just hip hop and rap. Also, I love the design and various color palette which now echo the look of the Beats Studios. Alas, I could not give these headphones a perfect score. Unfortunately after 5 minutes of listening to music with the Beats Solo 2, both my external ears began to ache. Compared to the Bose Soundtrue OE, the Solo 2 is designed with bigger ear cuffs and a much tighter squeeze. I found myself continually readjusting the headphone every 5-10 minutes to relieve the pressure on my ears. Although the ear cushions are soft, I don't think I can wear the Solo 2 for extended periods of time. With the ear cushions being larger (compared to Bose OE) and hollow in the center, the pressure is mainly concentrated/pressing on the outer part of the external ear. This may or may not be an issue to a lot of Beats fans and buyers. Mayybe designing a full ear cushion like the Bose would have made a difference. With Bose Soundtrue OE, I can barely tell have them on after 2 minutes and I have gone hours with them on. This is the only reason why I couldn't give the Beats Solo 2 a perfect score. Sound quality wise, I am really surprised how great it sounded and really enjoyed my music as equally as with the Bose. In all reality, choosing which headphone to purchase is based on preference: cool and modern vs classy and exclusive. Price of the Beats is $199 vs Bose $179. Either way, you can't go wrong.

Great sounding premium headphones

I REALLY wanted a set of headphones for daily personal use (aside from the gym) that are light, comfortable, and can produce a great balance of sounds. I've watched many Youtube comparison reviews of Bose and Beats headphones, and had great difficulty on which headphone to buy. I love the design of the Beats and the many color choices, but I preferred the comfort fit of the Bose. Each brand cater to a different audience and are good in their own way, but eventually, I decided on the Bose, specifically, the Soundtrue On-Ear (OE) headphone in white. I've tried on numerous headphones at the local BB, and the only one that felt the most comfortable to me was the Bose OE. The ear cuffs were so pillowy soft that I barely notice them after a few minutes of wearing the headphones. I also tried the Soundtrue Around-the-Ear (AE), but being warmblooded, my ears started to sweat underneath the cuff. While comparing both the OE and AE, I also noticed that the OE had a stronger, more contained sound (not as scattered). Although there is no active noise canceling feature, I can barely hear external noise at 50% volume. Being OE, there is slight noise leakage above 50% volume. These Bose Soundtrue had the balance of sound output that I was looking for. The mids and highs are clear and crisp with the vocals not being overpowered by the bass (changing the equalizer on my iPod/iPhone to bass booster improved bass even more). If head numbing bass is your priority, this is not the headphones for you. This is made for the buyer who listens to all genre of music and instrumentals and audio books. I also would not recommend this headphones to wear for jogging and robust exercise as it will not stay in place on your head. The detachable cord is long and has an inline remote (volume and pause) and microphone, making it easy to switch between phone calls and music. A nice carrying case is provided and the headphones folds neatly to a smaller size. The ear cups turn and swivel to fit all head shapes and size. Bose has smartly designed this headphones and engineered it to produce deep, clear, and better sound. Like all premium headphones on the market, it is not cheap but that is what one pays for with great sound engineering and exclusivity. Bose has been around for awhile now and has been known for their work in the science of sound. I really like Bose, but even more importantly, I wanted a great set of headphones that delivered everything I was looking for and one that will stand the test of time. This is definitely a keeper!

Good starter laser printer
on January 24, 2014

I use it for:Document printing
Past problem I've experience with inkjet printers is that the color inks never seem to last long enough. They dry up quickly when the printer is not in use. It seemed like I was having to replace all the ink every 4-5 months, even when the printer is not in use. I held out for years in switching to laser because through my frustrations of going through years of costly ink replacement, I still wanted the option to print in color as needed. Looking back at the type of documents I actually print, 95% were in black and white. realizing the cost of replacing 5 laserjet jet toners, I decided that black and white printing is really what I needed. Knowing I would be giving up the option to print in color, I finally made up my mind that I would switch to a laser printer, as long as it had fax, scan, print, and copy functions. I was excited to find this HP laser printer on the BB ad last week on sale for $199 and drove to the nearest BB that had availability. As a starter laser printer, it was a perfect match for my HP desktop and had all the other functions that I was used to, along with wireless connectivity. Compared to other printers, it's not the fastest but it's not a deal breaker for me. 21 PPM is quick enough for the amount of printing I actually do. Set up was easy, just one to two cables needed depending on wired or wireless set up. With the quick start pictured instructions, wireless set up was simple. Just turn on, pick wireless set up in the colored LCD screen, and follow the prompts. I was connected to my wi-fi network within a couple of minutes and so far connection has not dropped at all. I also appreciated HP for including 2 dvd set up discs (one for Windows and one for Mac) in the packaging as I have both program running in lap tops and MB Pro. It came with a starter toner with a 700-page capacity. Wow! I've never printed beyond 200 pages at a time, so it should last awhile. I have yet to try printing from a different location using E-print or with my smart phone, but it's nifty to know that I have the capability! One thing I would like to improve on is the paper storage capacity (only 35 sheets) which could be more. For a starter laser printer, I am happy with my purchase and would recommend it to someone who is looking for a multi-funcion laser printer at a decent price.

Great bluetooth headphones

I use my earphones for working out at the gym, and have become really frustrated with the cord constantly getting in the way. I knew that wireless earphones is the only answer to the problem, so I started researching bluetooth options. I saw the Motorola S11 HD at a warehouse store, and decided to hold off on getting it because I thought that it was a little pricey. I was excited to find it in the BB Black Friday ad, and was able to get it for nearly 50% off! I was surprised at how well the noise canceling feature worked as I could not hear ambient noise. I have wired earphones that hook over the ear, but even those would constantly come lose and I would lose the sound. I've read that to some the fit was uncomfortable, but every person is different. For me, the S11 fit was perfect and once I've properly put it on, there were no more episodes of continuous adjustments to make sure they don't fall out. I didn't find it necessary to utilize the extra detachable band as the fit was stable without them. I thought the design was quite nice and sleek enough to be less intrusive. The speaker phone worked well even with the mic located farther away from the mouth (on the ear). The caller's voice came through clearly. The quick charge (5 min = 1 hour) was great as I can be up and using the S11 in no time. I like being able to adjust the equalizer to have more bass or treble. It has verbal confirmation when first turned on and every time the equalizer is changed. I've read from the reviews regarding other Motorola bluetooth earphones that build quality can be an issue. I plan to be a little more careful with these earphones as I really like these Motorolla bluetooth earphones. I gave sound quality a 4 because I sometimes notice a little skip at the beginning of a song when I fast-forwarded to the next song. It doesn't happen all the time, but it is noticeable. I am attributing it to a delay in bluetooth delivery. For its size, the sound quality is great, and I will take wireless any day.

The best premium tablet your money can buy!

Took home the 64 GB Wi-Fi white/silver two days ago, and really enjoying this newer updated version so much! Has all the features that I've grown accustomed to in my iPad 2, but now it's lighter, faster, and with brilliant retina display. I am glad that I held off on buying the previous retina display iPad as this was a much improved product. Connected easily to my Bose Soundlink Mini bluetooth speaker and Sounddock 10. My older iPad had a fairly good battery life, and so far this one has been holding charge quite well. Two days on stand by and the charge is barely down at 98%. Not bad. Glad I went with the white version this time, because my older black iPad 2 showed fingerprints more easily. Some of the application apps such as Pages, Numbers, etc. are now free and with so many more available, the possibilities are almost endless. I really enjoy my Apple devices and would purchase more Apple products in the future. Unfortunately, just like the newly updated iOS in my iPhone and iPod Touch, I don't really like the look of the apps. I hope that they overhaul the new look and come up with an improvement soon; otherwise, highly recommended.
What's great about it: Easy set up, outstanding clarity of retina display, speed, advance camera features
What's not so great: Price

This soft sleeve case was just what I needed to add a little bit more style to my awesome Bose Soundlink Mini. I was going to wait to purchase it, but the impulse buyer in me won out. My eyes were immediately drawn to the the bright, green color case which I bought the same day I took home the Soundlink Mini. I am sure glad that I bought the case right away as it gave me piece of mind knowing that my awesome Bose Mini is protected from bumps and dents. It fit like a glove with cutouts providing easy access to the buttons on top and side audio and charger ports. Even the cutout at the bottom allows the Mini to sit on the cradle unhindered. Great design!

Best travel companion for bluetooth mp3 device
on October 28, 2013
Posted by: Dretlaw
from Hanford, CA
Type of Listener:Audiophile
Most Important to Purchase:Sound quality
How Often Used:3-5 times a week
Just brought this home earlier today after eyeing it for many weeks now. I own a Bose Sounddock 10, and I LOVE it. I use it quite a bit, but I wanted something that is more portable, yet packs nearly the same punch. I've tried all the bluetooth speakers on display at BB, and although there were a few mentionables, I kept coming back to the Bose Soundlink Mini. It seems a little pricey for many, but it's worth the money. My reward zone discount points helped. No regrets here. One of the best purchase I've done so far! Here are what I really liked about Bose's smallest bluetooth speaker:
1. Portability: Being able to take it anywhere was the biggest factor for me. I can take it anywhere in the house, outdoors, or when traveling. Now I can listen to my tunes while washing the car! It really is small enough to carry in a purse or small bag.
2. Ease of use: Pairing up was simple and quick and I didn't even read the instructions. It can pair up to 6 devices (tablets, laptops, smart phone, mp3, etc.).
3. Power: I realize that it will never compare to a Bose wave system or theater system. It is what it is, and what it is is Bose ingenuity! Don't let the size fool you. It is very unassuming at first, but I was blown away by the deep bass and clear crispness of sound that came out of this little speaker. Even at high volumes, sound distortions are not an issue. It's much at home in a big living room as it is in a dorm room. I strongly believe that it even beat the other bigger bluetooth systems.
4. Design: It is quite simple and sleek. I love the aluminum casing which matched my Macbook Pro and gave it the look of a higher end product. For it's size, it's hefty so there's really no worry about it vibrating off the base or table. Loving the fact that there are two slots for the charger to connect to (base dock or Mini itself). A jack is present for connecting non-bluetooth devices with an audio cable.
Probably the only thing that I would love for Bose to improve on for this system is to add a remote control feature. Being a personal device, I realize that the Soundlink Mini is meant to be kept at close range. For those times, when I'm at home and the Soundlink Mini and iPhone are not quite at reach, a remote would come in handy. I haven't tested the battery life yet, but I think 7 hours is plenty for me as I don't expect to use it for that length of time every time.
I have read reviews online and watched reviews on YouTube and one issue mentioned was the lack of sound customizability. It is true that the Mini excelled in the lower range with deep impactful bass, and that others wished more treble was available at the upper range. I thought that it was a moot issue. There's not very many product this size on the market with a strong bass factor, and in my opinion it's the bass that's priority. Customizing the equalizer setting on my iPhone allowed me to have more treble and less bass if I desired (Settings----Music---Equalizer). You just have to look at the source and not at the Soundlink Mini. Another feature that others wish it had is the microphone and speaker phone feature. I tried calling my iPhone to see what the system will do and it volumed down the music when a phone call is coming in which alerted me to a call. It did not pick up the ring tone. These are not deal breakers for me as I would hate to lose out on such an awesome product.
I would also like to mention that soft skin cases are available in green, blue, and solid orange for those times when you want a different look. The case also offer protection against the occasional bumps. I got the green, and it makes the Mini looks so sleek.
For those looking for the perfect travel companion to their mp3 device or smart phone, I would highly recommend the Soundlink Mini. Hearing is definitely believing when it comes to Bose, and the Mini is simply amazing for it's size. It is quite frankly, unbelievable!
What's great about it: Portability, sound, ease of use, design
What's not so great: Lack of remote control
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great speaker for your bluetooth device
on July 3, 2011
Posted by: Dretlaw

Got it on sale for $59.99. Bought it as speakers for my new iPad 2. Smooth design and packaging which works well for portability. Connectivity is easy via USB - just plug it in and turn it on and voila! USB transmitter also has it's own little cubby with the stand acting as a cover when not in use. This speaker also works well as a bluetooth speaker without the cables. It comes with a cloth case which is great. The only downside is that it is not 2.1, so without a subwoofer, one would not be able to hear deep base sounds. If that is what you're looking for then this is not the speaker for you. I think it works very well for what it is even without a subwoofer. Being able to buy it on sale is not so bad either.
What's great about it: Portability and option for bluetooth connectivity without USB.
What's not so great: Nothing really.

Big sound in a small package!
on May 29, 2010

I've had the Bose Sounddock II series for a month now, and I am very pleased with it. Set up is so simple that it's pretty much ready for use straight out of the box. It has very clean lines and does not take up too much space either. I bought the Bose as a replacement for the iHome in the kitchen which I was happy with. I moved the iHome dock radio to the bedroom and placed the Bose in the living room instead. I was very excited by the sound difference. For its size, the Bose delivers big, crisp sound that can be heard in every room of my house. For even better bass sound, set the iPod equalizer to bassbooster. I actually use the Sounddock II even more now than my home theater system. Bose has been a reliable name and the performance of its product is a testament to the quality of work. You won't be disappointed with system, especially if you love your iPod/iPhone. It's the perfect match. Even if you don't own an iPod/iPhone, the Bose has an auxillary input to allow play of other mp3 players.
One small thing that Bose could improve on is a more expanded function on the remote that can access the primary functions of the iPod/iPhone. A radio tuner is nice touch for those who do not have an iPod. For an iPod speaker/dock it maybe pricey for most people, although putting it on credit and taking advantage of the no-interest deals means that it is still within reach. Just pay it off before interest accrues.
What's great about it: Ready out of the box, small package, big sound
What's not so great: A little pricey

Terrific Sound, Horrible Value
By RumiSiddiqui
There's no denying this unit gives you terrific sound, but in terms of good value and longevity, I have to disagree. By purchasing the UE Boom, you're essentially leasing this speaker for $200 every two years or so; the life of this product is determined by the life of the non replaceable battery. All rechargeable batteries have a limited charge cycle and the ability to hold charge decreases over time. I have confirmed with logitech, they have no intention of replacing the battery. This is already a luxury accessory, and for most it's difficult to come to terms with spending $200 on a bluetooth speaker. Now factor in, buying one every 2 years or so. I'd gladly shave off a few hours of playback for a user replaceable battery. I wouldn't even mind paying Logitech a fee to replace the battery after the warranty expires, but who wants a $200 brick? Always remember with this unit: Product Life=Battery Life. For this reason, I'll likely go with the Bose Sound Link Mini; at least it has a user replaceable battery, thus prolonging the life of the product for years to come.

Thanks for the insightful review!
November 11, 2013
I bought the Bose Soundlink Mini after hearing the bass emanate from the display demo at Best Buy. I didn't research Youtube comparisons of the UE Boom vs Soundlink Mini. I think these two speakers are the only ones deserving high marks. It was after I had already taken home the Mini that I decided to research Youtube for bluetooth speakers. I didn't realize that UE Boom had all the extra features such water resistance, speaker phone, USB connectivity, 360 degree speaker sound, apps for customizing function, etc. And it was the only other bluetooth speaker in this price range and size that can go head to head with Bose in sound quality. I started to have doubts about my purchase. I agree that the UE Boom has really awesome sounds, but lacked bass. Coming across your review may have been divine intervention as I felt that my decision to purchase the Bose Mini was truly vindicated. I have never really even considered the diminishing battery charge and longevity as a factor when I made my purchase. Bose Mini HAS a replaceable battery. I am willing to live without the Booms extra features for sound quality and the smile on my face that Bose Soundlink Mini brings every time I turn it on and listen to my music. It looks solid and sleek. Bose has been around for a while now, and they truly have the science of sound down to an art. Thank you once again for the affirmation!

What to buy?

What do I purchase to have my IPod play through a 2000 Toyota 4 Runner radio?
Does your 4Runner stereo have an auxillary input? If so, all you need is the auxillary cable (8 mm) to connect the iPod and play your music through the car's speakers. You will still need to have your iPod placed nearby to be able to change music and playlist. There are plenty of car stereos available now that are "iPod-ready" and comes with the integration kit that allows you to control the iPod through the car's stereo module. If you are in the market to replace the 4Runner's stereo, consider these systems instead of just any regular car stereos.

IPod Touch 32GB What do I need to purchase in order for me to play in my 300M and Mazda 3

What do I need to purchase in order for me to play my Ipod touch in both of these cars? Is there anything out there compatible for both cars?
First of all, does your Chrysler 300M and Mazda 3 stereo systems have an auxillary input? If this is the case, then all you need is the auxillary cable which you can use to connect the iPod to either car's stereo system. Unfortunately, this connection does not allow you to access control of the iPod through the car's radio. I own a brand new 2010 Mazda 3, and it does has an auxillary input. Mazda sells the iPod integration module and kit as an accessory for about $300+. I am planning to buy this accessory soon. This will allow control of the iPod menu and settings through the car's audio system once the iPod is connected. One last resort is to purchase new stereos for both cars that already have the iPod control module built in.
