David S. Ward's college football drama The Program comes to DVD with a widescreen anamorphic transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1. The English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital 5.1. There are no subtitles, but the soundtrack is closed-captioned. There are no supplemental materials of any consequence, but this inexpensive Disney/Buena Vista release boasts excellent sound and picture quality.

The Program is one of, if not, the best football movie ever made. The characters in the movie develop so much throughout the film. The plot is great. I could never imagine a better made sports film. Lattimer is the coolest guy in the world. Who would actually smash their head through car windows after finding out they made the starting lineup? Only Lattimer. Joe Kane is a great character who shows development and growth throughout the film.
This film is a must for any football fanatic. It fulfills all of the requirements for a great sports film; believable characters, action packed scenes, storyline that displays the truth of the sport.
What's great about it: Great football scenes. Great characters.
