Good series, good set. Not too many extras, but you're getting the full season, so not a big deal.
What's great about it: Entertaining
What's not so great: Will not prevent high cholesterol.

Final season

The final season of Six Feet Under. Be sure to have a box of tissues handy for the finale. DVDs are not suited for wiping up tears.
What's great about it: Quality entertainment
What's not so great: Doesn't absorb liquids

Another great season of Six Feet Under, but be careful! The DVD sets do not protect you from lightning strikes. I learned this the hard way.
What's great about it: Writing, acting, direction
What's not so great: Does not protect you from lightning!

The Fisher family cope with their myriad emotional crises as they deal with the business of running a funeral home in this collection of episodes from the award-winning HBO series Six Feet Under. Six Feet Under: The Complete Third Season features all 13 episodes from the show's 2003 season on five DVDs. Optional subtitles in English, French, and Spanish are also included. Bonus material includes a documentary on the production of the show's third season, writer's commentaries on five episodes, and a selection of deleted scenes.

More madcap hijinx from the wacky crew of Fisher and Sons Funeral Home. Ok, so it's not a laugh riot; its still well written and performed.
What's great about it: Great entertainment
What's not so great: Not edible

Zelda + Wii = win
on October 17, 2007

The Legend of Zelda has come to the Wii and he's lost the little boy, cartoony look of the Game Cube incarnation. This is a fun game. The dungeons can be difficult, but never to the point of frustration, and there are many extras to look for while playing.
I only had a couple of minor complaints. First, the game is a little too easy. There are a few challenging parts, but overall, I would have loved a harder difficulty level (perhaps after finishing the game once). Second, the game doesn't save after finishing the game. There are a lot of collections and extras to search for, but you'd better finish before the final battle, because you can't go back once you've won.
Even with these minor quibbles, it's an excellent game, and a must have for fans of the series, or anyone who owns a Wii.
What's great about it: Zelda!
What's not so great: a little too easy

Once upon a time, the gaming world was turned on its head by a little gray cartridge for the Nintendo Entertainment System: Super Mario Bros. Now, more than twenty years later, witness the evolution of the platformer that started it all with New Super Mario Bros., the latest installment of the beloved franchise on the Nintendo DS. It may be in incredible 3D, but you'll hearken back to those glorious 2D days of stomping Goombas, kicking turtle shells and chasing mushrooms.Join Mario and Luigi as they jump and climb their way over fields, under water, through castles and into the air. Collect all-new powerups, including the Blue Shell that Mario can ride in and the massive Mushroom that makes him super-huge. Team up with a friend and play as both Mario and Luigi in multiplayer mode. You and Mario will both take a nice little trip back to your roots with New Super Mario Bros.

It's a me! Mario!

It's just as the name of the game indicates - new Super Mario Brothers. It's a side scroller in the vein of the classic Mario Brothers games on SNES. There are lots of alternate paths and extras. A must own for any Mario fan, or a good introduction to the character if you've been living under a rock.

Fans can finally boldly go where no man has gone before with the release of Star Trek: The Next Generation -- Season One on DVD. The episodes available on these discs include "Encounter at Farpoint," "Angel One," "The Arsenal of Freedom," "The Battle," "The Big Goodbye," and more. This seven-disc box set features video transfers in 1.33:1 full frame (the original aspect ratio of the TV show). Each of these 26 episodes look better than expected with solid color patterns and dark black levels. While some grain and softness appears from time to time, overall these episodes appear very clean and pleasing to the eye. The audio is featured in Dolby Digital 2.0 along with a newly created Dolby 5.1 remix, both presented in English. The new 5.1 remix should thrill fans of the show with a multitude of new directional effects and a richer, deeper sound than the 2.0 mix. There are moments on both soundtracks where a small amount of hiss is heard (as well as distortion in the dialogue), but for their age and budget, these soundtracks are both in excellent condition. Also included on each episode are subtitles in English. Star Trek: The Next Generation -- Season One features four solid extra features: a documentary on the origins of the show titled "The Beginning"; "Selected Crew Analysis" with the cast's thoughts and recollections on the production and their characters; a "Making of a Legend" documentary, which features more interviews with the cast, crew, and makers of the series; and "Memorable Missions," which is a funny and often intriguing selection of interviews with the cast discussing their favorite moments on the series. Also included in this box set is a companion booklet with information and dates on the selected episodes from the TV show's first season.

Great series

A must have for Star Trek fans. Not a fan of the gate fold disk holders (I prefer the newer slim cases), but they do the job.
For any TV series boxed set, the strength of the episodes is the most important factor to me, and this is a good season, but not the best. It also includes a fair amount of extras.
