Growing up a few miles from his hometown, I totally relate to this album. It reaches deep down into the small towns of North Alabama and grabs you by the guts.

Heartbreaking at best, tremendous at worst. Chris Bell was a wonderful songwriter. His fingerprints on the world of pop music will forever be there. Essential listening for Big Star fans.
Thank goodness for artists like Jason Isbell. Can't stop listening to this ever since it was released. Great singer and songwriter. If he's good enough for the Boss, he's even better for the music world.
Gram Parsons was ahead of his time and he died way too young. What he left behind was a legacy that would change the course of country music. I only wish he could have lived to see it and watch his cult like status grow. These two solo albums along with the Byrds' Sweetheart of the Rodeo, International Submarine Band's Safe at Home and The Flying Burrito Brothers' Burrito Deluxe and The Gilded Palace of Sin are a must for any Parsons fan. Check out his Cosmic American Music. It's definitely worth it.
Thank God for Uncle Tupelo.....set the stage for the alternative country movement and bands like The Jayhawks, Whiskeytown, Lambchop, Tendersticks, Lucero, DBT, etc......this one is worth the money especially the covers of Iggy's I Wanna Be Your Dog and CCR's Effigy....you won't regret adding this to your collection
Chilton was pure genius...haunting, gut wrenching, heartbreaking, music...set the tone for anything indie...basically early alternative music...such an impact on so many bands and artists...a very under appreciated band with a happy ending
