Nice keyboard
on February 22, 2024

This is a really nice keyboard but it does have a couple of minor flaws. I would probably give it a 4.5 star rating if best buy allowed half stars but because it is so good otherwise I rounded up to 5.
The first and biggest flaw to me (which isn't a big deal really) is the backlighting. It doesn't really light the keytops but just the area around them so don't expect it to help much for visibility. It seems to be more for decoration. There also doesn't seem to be any per key lighting currently, just the usual patterns or static colors. But I guess it's kind of a bonus that it does have backlighting since it wasn't mentioned in the description when I ordered it. There is a convenient button on the side to turn it on/off if you want to use the backlight. I personally keep it off most of the time since it seems distracting during intense gaming and also drains the battery a bit more.
The other minor flaw is with the macros which seem to be limited to a certain number of characters. I like to program my email address as a macro since most websites that require a login use it but mine is apparently a few characters too long to record all of it. But again not a big deal since it does do macros which was a pleasant surprise.
I really like the looks and size of this keyboard. The spacing and feel of the keys are great. It's pretty hefty for it's size which is good to keep it from moving around when using it. Probably it's large battery adds some of the weight. It's also very quiet so you shouldn't disturb others with your frantic gaming. Works wired too but I mostly use the 2.4 Ghz receiver wirelessly.
I used to prefer keyboards with tactile feedback but this one may have converted me to the smooth linear style which is very comfy here. It has become easily my favorite for gaming of the many keyboards I've used over the years.

Good drive
on February 21, 2024
Posted by: InspectorGadget
Seems like a pretty good drive so far. I'm not really a proffesional (how do you spell that?) photographer but I do like to take a lot of pictures and videos and usually do some editing on them. This can require a fair amount of hard drive space and speed to be more productive. While this may not be the fastest in rated speeds it is still quite fast and seems plenty fast for this purpose. Some rated speeds seem a bit overblown anyway especially with larger files which often slow down as the transfers take longer.
This one is made by SanDisk which is a well known brand and quite reliable. They were bought out by Western Digital awhile back which is another good brand which I have trusted for a long time. I have used a lot of hard drives over the years and I prefer Western Digital drives above the others for long life and reliability as well as speed. They just seem to keep on working well.
Easy to install as are most m.2 drives if you have an open slot. I put it in my acer i5 laptop which came with a 512 Gb drive but had another slot for an additional m.2 drive so this drive gave me much more space to play with. I also installed quite a few music mp3's and so far it works well.
The packaging was kind of surprising as it is quite minimalist (?). It seems to offer less protection than other drives I've purchased but still arrived in very good condition via usps and functions fine. A bit less waste for the landfill is always good.

Good ssd

This is a really nice solid state drive from Crucial. They make good products. This isn't my first Crucial drive and my others are still working fine. I also have used their memory with good results. 2TB is pretty big and should provide quite a bit of additional storage space for large games or whatever you need to store on it.
It appears to be intended for ps5 users with qualifying speeds and heatsink preinstalled. However I chose to install it in my desktop pc to test it with. It says it is also compatible with desktops so I figured it should work and it does work well in it. Not really designed for laptops though since the heatsink makes it a bit bulky for many laptops. They do make one without the heatsink for slightly less money if you want one for your laptop. If you have a larger laptop it might fit but I would opt for the one without the heatsink for most laptops.
Nice looking and simple style with the heatsink if you have a desktop with a window to see it. Mine has a glass side which shows the components inside. The drive doesn't have any lights on it though but it doesn't really need any. If you want lights you will probably have to pay more.
Good price and Crucial quality. Fast and easy to install especially if you have an empty slot to add it to. My desktop supports four m.2 drives and this is number three and it works well.

Good basic printer
on January 14, 2024

Nice basic laser printer with great budget pricing. I can hardly believe that you can get a laser printer for such a low price. They used to be so much more expensive than other printers.
This one is pretty basic which is to be expected for it's low price. It's not a color printer though you can print pictures in "monochrome" (shades of black and white and gray) which look decent. But not really made for photos. It's mainly for text but you can add nice letterheads, borders, etc. with the right software. Good print quality.
It doesn't have all the bells and whistles that more expensive printers have so if you want those you'll likely have to spend a bit more. No built in display or lots of inputs but good quality build and appears it will last for awhile. Also no wireless. I deducted a star since it doesn't include the usb cable needed to connect it so you'll have to come up with one to use it. Be sure to get the right one it's a usb a/b cable (has a squarish connector on one end). I already had a few from other hardware so not a deal breaker for me but you would think they would include the cable for a wired printer. Also the link in the quick install guide led me to software that didn't see the printer. It was pretty frustrating trying to get it to work which it never did. I finally tried printing without it and it worked fine though. I did finally find the software for this printer which does work but doesn't really add much yet. It is a new printer so hopefully the software will get better.
I don't really print a lot which is why I wanted a laser printer. Inkjet printers seem to always get clogged print heads or the ink just dries up if you don't use them often. Yeah toner cartridges are more expensive than liquid ink but they seem to hold up a bit longer with fewer problems if you don't use them them that much. But good for frequent use as well.

Nice headphones
on December 5, 2023

Pretty nice pair of headphones. Mid to high end range, they have good solid sound. I like the ocean blue color too. They are actually a bit more blue than they appear in the pictures which give them a slightly greenish tint. Overall very nice looking headphones.
Not as bulky as many of their competitors, they fit well. They are a bit heavier than I expected but still quite comfortable. With proper adjustments the padding cushions them well. The drivers are supposedly angled so they probably sound best if you get the right/left orientation correct.
Good noise cancelling with three levels basically off, medium, or full on. You can access them with the button on the left earcup or through the app. The rest of the buttons are on the right earcup and are easily accessed for simple operation. The app is pretty basic and only gives you a couple of extra functions including battery level and bass & treble controls. It works with a few streaming apps but doesn't currently appear to work with saved music files. Fortunately it's not required since the headphones work fine without it.
AC adapter not included but charging cable is. Also can be used wired with additional included usb-c to 1/8" audio cable. Nice hardshell case with cable storage to store it all. Charges pretty quickly and has good battery life.
If you're familiar with Bowers & Wilkins you probably know what to expect. They have great quality sound and these headphones don't disappoint.

Nice for casual use
on November 4, 2023

It's a pretty nice turntable. At first I didn't think I liked it much but once I got it setup and tried it out I kind of like it now. I've had several turntables over the years since I was a kid (that was before cd's). Back then it was either vinyl records or cassettes though I also had a few 8 track tapes. Obviously vinyl was my first choice since tapes had much lower sound quality but you couldn't play vinyl in your car.
So I do still have a better (?) turntable than this one but it's getting older now and doesn't have bluetooth but it does have usb which this one doesn't. I couldn't get it to connect to the bluetooth on my good receiver though but it probably just wasn't close enough. Sounds pretty good wired though. Should work with bluetooth speakers but I haven't tried that yet. Wired has better sound anyway.
Has a decent cartridge the audio technica AT-VM95E not the Ortofon red listed under features on Best Buy's website. They should try to get their info more accurate. The Ortofon is on the more expensive model. Still it's a fairly good cartridge though you may want to get a better one.
Speaking of changing cartridges they can be different weights and the counterweight has no markings for the weight. If you're picky like me and want to prolong the life of your vinyls and stylus you should invest in a stylus force gauge to adjust it. I already had two of them, an old mechanical style one and a newer digital one that both seem pretty accurate. They're not that expensive and should help.
At first I really didn't like the dust cover. You can't use it while the records are playing but most dust covers introduce hum and noise anyway especially at higher volume levels so I guess it's better than no dust cover. You may want to keep the box or something to cover it. If you have an old turntable its cover may work.
I like that it starts automatically when you put the stylus over the record (you do have to power it on first). It also stops at the end which should help the stylus last a bit longer. Nice looking and pretty hefty weight. Good quality rca cable included.
The cue lever needs to be longer. You also can't adjust the speed just 45 or 33 but not a big deal. Seems to track well. I set the counterweight at 2 grams with my tracking force gauges which is the recommended amount for this cartridge. It was at about 3 when I followed the instructions which is not bad but I prefer it a bit lighter.

Add-on some fun
on October 16, 2023
Posted by: InspectorGadget
This is a good manual shifter if you want to add some fun with manual shifting to your steering wheel for compatible racing games. I have been using it with the Thrustmaster T248 wheel and pedals on pc which Best Buy also sells. It's a nice mid price wheel for those who want a good wheel but don't want to spend a ton of money and comes with some good quality adjustable pedals. I also have the Insignia racing wheel stand from Best Buy which makes the whole setup easier and more fun.
As you may have guessed I'm a gamer and I love racing games. I have a couple of older consoles but recently I mainly play on pc. The steering wheel makes them much more realistic and more fun. This shifter adds to the realism and to me the fun. Some may not want to shift manually but if you're curious about it give it a try. You can use it with or without the clutch pedal so it's really pretty easy.
If you're using it on pc like me you will need a separate usb port for it; consoles can just plug it into a compatible wheel. So laptop gamers may need a usb hub to accommodate but desktops should have enough. Comes with two cables one to connect to your wheel and one usb-c to usb-a connectors. The usb-c end connects to the shifter and the usb-a to the computer.
I've used it mainly on forza horizon 5 and it works great. Nice feel and short throw. It also works well with Assetto Corsa and should work with several other games that support wheels but maybe not all.
If you're a diehard and want a better one the Thrustmaster TH8A is probably better and higher quality with a bit more options but it's price is more. This one supposedly has adjustable tension but it just seems to make it more or less wobbly in the center position. It could be useful in the future though as it may loosen up a little with use.
If you want the best and can afford it you should probably get the TH8A instead of this one. But if you're on a budget and just want to have some fun this is a more affordable alternative.

nice gadget

Nice automatic feeder for cats and dogs. May be a bit small for larger dogs but probably fine for medium to smaller dogs. I have two cats one a female that had been a stray apparently quite awhile and just decided to move in one day. The other a male that I guess was feral since he seemed to have had no real contact with humans. I live next to a wooded area so I guess that's why they were here. I tried to ignore the male until one day he was lying on my deck looking like he was going to die of starvation so I started leaving food out for him. He was smaller then and afraid of me. He's much bigger now. Anyway I hadn't really planned to have cats they just kind of happened. They both prefer to spend time outdoors as long as it's not freezing cold out. They're both pretty spoiled now and the boy can eat a lot of food when he's not eating squirrels or mice.
Feeding them can be a chore sometimes; there's always so many other things that need to be done. This feeder makes it a lot easier and saves some space as well since I can fill it up and put their food bag away in a cabinet. The feeder doesn't take up much more floor space than the food bowl and I don't have to scoop out some food ten times a day to feed them. It holds quite a bit of food and seems to keep it pretty fresh.
Has a lot of options for auto or manual operation. The app is pretty good too especially if you're not home and want to keep your pet fed. It has some good history features to let you track how much your pet is eating. Seems well made so should last awhile. One thing is the app kept showing mine was empty even though it wasn't so I just leveled out the food in the hopper and it worked fine after that.
A bit pricey but you get what you pay for. Time is money and this will save you some time. If you like to spoil your pets or you're a gadget freak like me get one.

Good choice

I originally got this for a ps5 but on learning more about it I decided to try it out in a laptop I had partly to check for firmware updates and my laptop had an open slot for a second drive. I had noticed on Best Buy's website that many people had asked if it was compatible with their laptop and samsung had replied that it was so I figured I would give it a try.
I didn't realize until I took it apart that my laptop already had heat sinks installed for both slots including the empty one but it was easy to remove only held in with one screw. I had to remove it to make enough room for the samsung ssd with it's own heatsink. The built in heatsink was ok but the samsung one seemed much better.
I have used a few samsung ssd's before with great results. They seem to be the Cadillac of hdd's with high quality and great support. I have also had several of their other products and appreciate their quality and longevity. They may cost slightly more than other brands but are worth it if you want one of the best you can get.
It's really fast, probably the fastest one out there so far. Gen 4 speeds but should work in Gen 3 slots as well just at lower Gen 3 speed. I like the looks of it as well and it even has lights so it would look great in a gaming desktop with a window to see it.
A bit expensive at full price but if you can get it on sale it's well worth it. Ssd prices are dropping so it will likely get cheaper. Just don't wait too long or they may be all gone.

Nice

Nice all purpose laptop with some good features but I would hesitate to call it a gaming laptop. It does give some sporty looks and features of gaming laptops especially if you are a newbie to gaming or just on a tight budget and can't afford a true gaming laptop. It is pretty fast and has a nice backlit keyboard and great display. Fast gen 12 i5 intel cpu and 16G of ram are good enough for most uses as well as a gen 4 (I think it's gen 4) 512GB ssd. Gamers will likely eventually need more hard drive space but there is another slot to add a second nvme m.2 drive. I added a 2TB gen 4 ssd to this slot to test it out and it works great so I will likely keep it in there. It even has a space to add an older sata drive though it seems to take away some space from the battery which could have been bigger otherwise. Still it does seem to have decent battery life, depending on what you are doing of course. Gaming will likely drain it faster.
I guess my biggest gripe about calling this a gaming laptop would be the nvidia graphics. It only has 4GB of vram which limits its potential. Apparently the 3050 and 3050 Ti are limited to 4GB which while it's fast and capable of running most games the details in the graphics settings of high end games won't allow use of their higher settings because of the lower vram. Serious gamers will want at least 6GB or preferably 8GB or more of dedicated vram to be happy.
Still though it seems to be a nice and solid build for all purpose use. I like the bigger size which seems a bit bulkier than the slim laptops but helps it stay cooler and gives you some of the connections on the rear so they aren't so visible or intrusive if you want to connect an external display or keyboard/mouse which I often do. I also like the choices of keyboard shortcuts which are a bit better for me than most laptops. Built in speakers are typical for most laptops. Not really too exciting but ok.
Best Buy's specs show 4 ram slots which is inaccurate since mine only has two (I looked). But you can still upgrade to more ram if you want. Mine has 2 8GB ddr4 sticks for 16GB total. If you want to add more be sure to get ddr4 since the newer ddr5 ram won't fit.
Overall it seems like a nice well built laptop which should last a while. I expect to use it quite a bit. Reasonable price for what you get. Acer makes nice stuff and they have better "gaming" laptops if you can afford to spend a bit more.

Good game.

The game is really really fun to play 2 players against the computer once you unlock the characters by earning points. It does play a little bit clunky (for example sometimes a player will get hit up and be in the air for way too long). Overall a really fun game, if you love anime you'll probably love this.
