Barbet Schroeder's Murder By Numbers comes to DVD with a standard full-frame transfer that fails to preserve the original theatrical aspect ratio of the film. The English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital 5.1. There are neither subtitles nor closed-captions on this release. Supplemental materials include a commentary track recorded by Schroeder and the film's editor Lee Percy, as well as a theatrical trailer. This Warner Brothers title is fine for what it is, but a widescreen edition of the film is available. That version is preferable.
