A Real Mob Story

Now if I had not have read the book I would have said 5 stars but the film is hardly recognizable to the book. It portrays Pistone (Brasco) in a different way. However It's a good film that lets you see the mafia in another light. So good if you have read the book and great if you haven't.
My Best Buy number: 2160025961
What's great about it: Pacino & Depp
What's not so great: Not really like the book.

Sweet Movie

I really like this story. I like the reality of the situation. I think it can teach us all something about children not being ready to raise children. Although Juno was a bit too vocal at times, I appreciated her character. I also liked the relationship she had with her parents, being open and avoiding secrets and judgments. That's healthy if you ask me rather than the opposite. Overall, cool movie to watch with teenagers.
My Best Buy number: 2160025961
What's great about it: Young love prevails
What's not so great: Involves teenage pregnancy

Wonderful Movie
on April 20, 2013

This is simply a wonderful film! The performances by Jesica Tandy, Morgan Freeman, Dan Ackroyd and Esther Rolle are top-notch. The pace of the film is magnificent; there is not a dull moment in the entire one and a half hours. The set is lovely and period correct, as is the music and even the automobiles (mostly vintage Cadillacs). The chemistry between the two lead characters is very special, and Jessica Tandy certainly deserved the Academy Award for her performance. It is wonderful to see the progression over the period of several decades, and the friendship that develops between a proud, old Jewish widow and her newly appointed chauffeur. Dan Ackroyd as Miss Daisy's son is surprisingly effective also. An all round gem of a movie that deserves to be seen again and again.

What's great about it: The performances
What's not so great: Made me cry like a woman.

A Great History Lesson
on April 20, 2013

I was one of the lucky ones to see a screening of Lincoln prior to it's release. This is one of those movies that is destined to becoming a classic. Daniel Day-Lewis was nothing short of amazing ,he didn't portray Lincoln ,he was Lincoln. The supporting cast turned in some outstanding performances and it was Tommy Lee Jones that led the pack. The only issue I had was, for the first 30 minutes or so of this 2 1/2 hour epic, was slow and due to the language of the day, I had a bit of trouble following what was going on. As things progressed ,I began really getting into it and by the part in the movie where the votes on slavery began tallying, it was both stellar and stirring . Whether you are a history buff, student in school, general movie goer or new to this country , This ones for you.
My Best Buy number: 2160025961
What's great about it: Daniel Day Lewis
What's not so great: A little longer than need be.

For Mick Foley Fans Everywhere!
on April 20, 2013

If it isn't obvious already, this dvd has the long-awaited Mick Foley Documentary, which much like The Rock & CM Punk's documentaries, is just absolutely awesome and extremely well done. It covers everything from days as a kid all the way to his stand-up career that he is currently working on. This highlights tons of memorable matches, tells stories that have been heard before as well as lots of stories that I've never heard. WWE takes the time to make a great show. This documentary is 2 hours and 14 minutes. Although there are several Mick Foley dvds, for a documentary this is the one to get.
What's great about it: Mick Foley
What's not so great: Wished it had rare, unreleased matches

In the Spirit of the Naked Gun Films
on April 13, 2013

I remember waiting for these episodes when I was a kid. It was a spin off of the Naked Gun movies. Just as funny but a little tamer for TV. Silly fun for the entire family. Leslie Nielson is great and each episode contains a barrel of laughs for everyone.
What's great about it: Hysterically funny. Naked Gun fans will love it.
What's not so great: Only six episodes!
