On this record, seasoned Helmet fans will not recognize this as the "Helmet" sound. Page Hamilton's vocals still sound fine, but the rest of the band's sound varies quite a bit. One can applaud Helmet for not cookie-cutting a "Meantime - Part 2", and perhaps being "experimental" in that sense. On the other hand, they may listen to this record and say, 'what the heck happened to Helmet?!' There's not a great deal of classic Helmet hard-rock on here. This is not anything like "Meantime" or "Betty". Generally though, there may be some things to like on here as long as you're not expecting another 90's style Helmet record.

It's always nice to buy a product that accurately and exactly describes its contents. That's what Radkey does with this record, "Delicious Rock Noise". If you like your rock & roll catchy and direct (though not in the shallow, corporate top-40 sense), but with a nice balance of hard-rock melody and noise, Radkey accomplishes that on this record. Exactly as advertised. Nice going, Radkey! Kudos to you guys!

I've always been a fan of Kansas. "Leftoverture" ranks as one of my all-time favorite rock records as well as it being one of the most important rock albums ever. Of course, it's almost impossible to live up to that high-water mark again (even though the follow-up, "Point of Know Return", came pretty close). It was a special moment in time for a very special American band. However, since the peak of Kansas' commercial popularity in the mid/late 70's, one can say that they went "underground". There were several lesser known releases in the 80's and personnel changes ensued. Thereafter, we really didn't hear much from Kansas on a mainstream level until recently when they released a band documentary film in 2016 to coincide with the 40th anniversary of the release of their masterpiece, "Leftoverture". This was followed by a U.S. tour and the release of this new album, "The Prelude Implicit". I facetiously call this a "comeback" record, only because Kansas never really left. Though they hadn't been touring and recording perpetually like they were in the 70's (and early 80's), they've been together as a band throughout their 47 year history (and counting). This is a satisfying record, true to Kansas' values as a band: intelligent, thoughtful lyrics and interesting prog-rock music played by excellent musicians. I like most of the tracks and the deluxe version of this release has covers of classic American folk tunes - done the "Kansas way". But as a lifelong fan of the band, one can't help but compare it to their finest work. So, even though it doesn't really compete with their best work, it's still several knotches higher than many of the rock records being released today. Now it's not really fair to compare this new release to "Leftoverture" or "Point of Know Return", only because those records were instant classics. But on its own merits as a stand alone record, it's a very good prog-rock record worthy of many listens.
I heard some earlier tracks by Ghost and liked the intriguing but melodically accessible sound from this Swedish band. I particularly like the tradition of Swedish heavy-metal, that of being heavy but melodically interesting (like Soilwork and In Flames). When this EP came out, aside from the covers, I thought the original material would be more along that vein of being melodically interesting. But I found it to be quite predictable sounding, even bordering on a boring pop sound - and not what I was expecting. Though not completely awful, I'm a bit disappointed with this record. I'm also not too wild about the macabre religious satire - a bit too gimmicky for me.
fine second album, but I like the first one better

Wovenwar's debut album is excellent. It's a refreshing heavy-metal record in that it rocks as heavily as anything out there, but it also maintains great melody and rich vocal harmonies throughout. With the current abundance of metalcore bands out there, with the growling/screaming vocals, the first Wovenwar record was a welcome return to highly melodic heavy-metal (which I just personally prefer). This second album by Wovenwar though (Honor Is Dead) gets away from that a bit. It's still heavy and the lyrics are still intelligent, but there's less melody than the first record. Maybe this one will grow on me, but I definitely like the first one better.

This was one of three items that I had to purchase for the remote starter kit. It works very compatibly with the other items and has been a very reliably functioning product.
