Best hub for 2016 MacBook Pro. Period.

This is the best hub/adapter for the 2016 MacBook Pro. Period.
If you are like me and hate the fact that the new MacBook Pro has only USB-C ports and nothing else, then this nifty accessory will solve all your problems.
The HyperDrive is about the size of a pack of chewing gum but packs all the ports you need: HDMI, Thunderbolt, USB-C, microSD, SD and 2 USB 3.0 ports in a super compact aluminum enclosure that matches the MacBook Pro in terms of design and color (it comes in 2 MacBook Pro colors of Space Gray and Silver).
No other hub/adapter has that many ports in a smaller form factor. With it, I can easily connect my MacBook Pro to my 4K OLED TV, the LG 5K UltraDisplay which also charges my MacBook, microSD from my GoPro, SD from my camera and a variety of USB flash drives, hard drives and peripherals.
Bear in mind that this only works with the latest 2016 MacBook Pro since it has a unique 2 USB-C input connector design which only fits the 2016 Macbook Pro, it WILL NOT work with any other USB-C laptops unless they have the same 2 USB-C ports layout and spacing (very unlikely).
The HyperDrive occupies 2 USB-C ports on the 2016 MacBook Pro but returns 2 USB-C ports on the hub as well (one of which supports Thunderbolt 3.0 while the other is purely for USB-C data).
The HyperDrive is the only hub/adapter that I ever need for my 2016 MacBook Pro and it has made my MacBook Pro useful again. I highly recommend it for anyone who has the new 2016 MacBook Pro.

Yes you can connect the power supply to one of the hub's USB-C ports to provide pass through charging of the MacBook Pro. I'm not sure about the other review and frankly am very skeptical about their claims (feels like a plant from a jealous competitor perhaps). I'm an electrical engineer by training and just used a multimeter to confirm that the hub merely pass through the power from the power supply. The pass through current and voltage is not altered in any way. The hub has no other power source and no way of producing a sudden power surge which is the only possible remote way to fry the MacBook Pro logic board. The MacBook Pro is well built enough to handle short circuit and sudden power draw so you can eliminate that as well.

Caused major damage to New MacBook pro
ByRobertK
After purchasing and using once it completely fried my new MacBook Pro and The computer had to be sent out for major repair that would have costed over $580 for complete logic board replacement but thankfully is still under warranty. Buyer beware if your computer is not under warranty.

If you can BS about a hub that has no power supply "completely frying" your computer, you certainly BS about your job and intentions.
