Low dpi for photos
on November 21, 2016

I bought my first Epson printer about 20 years ago (stylus) and it was 1440dpi which is great for photos. This printer is a maximum 720dpi and it takes a bit of digging in the settings to find it. A full page print from a 20 megapixel photo will throw away pixels according to the print preview.

Very poor video

The video is very poor for 4k with a high contrast. Unlike the GoPro HERO 4k, shadows produce little to no detail and are rendered mostly black. The video itself suggests that it is internally a 1080p signal extrapolated up to 4k where the camera guesses 3/4 of the pixels rather than taking them directly off the CMOS. It was an easy decision to return the camera.

This camera is horrible, it's performance on moving project photo is really bad, on low light photo is worst.
Only day time photo is ok.

Very poor video
November 21, 2016
I bought one thinking that it would produce stunning 4k video the way my GoPro - HERO4 Black does. The video is horrible. The camera has a very high contrast meaning that you will see black in shadows rather than details. Also, given the look of the video, I suspect that it internally is a 1080p signal extrapolated up to 4k the way some blue ray players are where the camera is guessing 3/4 of the pixels rather than rendering them directly like the GoPro. It was an easy decision to return this camera.

My review above was about the video only

I would have kept the camera if I did not already have a 20 megapixel digital camera. The still photos were good but the long zoom needs a tripod as it is nearly impossible to handhold a 36 power zoom without camera shake. As a digital still camera I would rate it with 4 stars.
