Beautiful Sound and quick set up

It has brought to life my 20 year old speakers and is producing sound I never had with my old Fisher. It was quick and easy to set up with on TV screen step by step instructions that guide you at each step and confirm the settings are correct. It has a multitude of settings to enhance the audio from whatever method it was recorded in and even listening to some of my old CD's I notice sounds and nuances I have never heard before, and I have a severe loss of hearing. Only time will tell if the product is durable. But, for now I am really enjoying it.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Protection defect & totally lacks instructions

I should have heeded the warnings I saw on this site and others, about this Sony Model and the other models in this series. The unit randomly shuts off and displays "Protection" you have to wait 30 minutes to turn it back on. That might be okay if you are just listening to music. But, a disaster if you are in the middle of a program or movie. I started looking for instructions and trouble shooting. All I could find was instructions for the basic quick start up and connections in the box. I went on-line and found a very confusing system of pull down tabs to canned questions that were totally useless. (Along with a cute little note about if you can't use this function you can buy it printed from a company & they gave you the link.) Great Customer Service, they add insult to injury and want you to buy the Instructions that should have been packed in the box.. Finally, I tried the chat line. A very pleasant man walked me though everything I had already completed on my own and then told me to take the unit back to the store.
Overall the sound quality was not that great and controls were very confusing and more so with out a clear description of the functions and uses.
Best Buy graciously accepted the return of the Sony Receiver and I exchanged it for a Denon. The sound from the Denon I have found, is much better sounding then the Sony and setup is automated on your TV Screen, also I found even more detailed descriptions, explanations, and instructions are available on-line and can be easily printed out.. They are very precise and informative.
Don't waste you time and money on this Sony or others in this series.

Found it was just what I wanted and needed

it has been 21 years since I needed a new TV so catching up with technology and terminology was daunting at first. I had many things plugged into my old TV. VCR ,CD player,surround sound system, the FIOS set top box, and a roof antenna. Instructions could use a little more elaboration. It took many days of trial and error to finally get everything but the VCR playing. (still working on that one)
Other then that, after tinkering a lot with the controls, I was able to get a gorgeous picture and hooked into the 20 year old sound system, the sound was better then I have ever had it before.

Only time will tell about reliability. but for now I am 100% satisfied with the price at Best Buy and the product.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Can I adjust bass and treble with this receiver? Or is bass and treble adjusted elsewhere?
I couldn't find any contols at all for that purpose. Allegedly that is all set up by their automatic sensing device. I wasn't happy with the sound and reset it..

How do I set this up for multiple devices so it does not shut off with "protector" warning? After several combinations of setups the system pops and shuts off. I cannot get back to the setup screen as there is no " menu" choice on the screen or remotc.

It appears to be a defect in the Sony Receivers in this series. After working with Sony tech support yesterday they told be it was faulty take it back to the store.

Can I operate four 8 ohm speakers all at once with this unit?
I was operating 8 ohms speakers and this unit was blowing the Protection Circuit and it took 30 minutes for the receiver to reset. Appears to be a defect.

How do you connect speakers in an additional room or rooms?

I have the same problem. My old unit I just replaced had A and B speaker switches on the front panel.. I couldn't find any units with that built in anymore.
I bet if you ask a tech in the Best Buy store, they will probably find you a switch of some type to hook up between the wires.
I have to work on that one next myself.

Store availability
How can I find out if this receiver is available in my store (Brentwood, Missouri)? If it is not, can I still use my 2X points coupon if I have it shipped to the store and pick it up there?
Save your money, this model has a defect in it's protection circuits and there are no instructions on how to use it properly and/or the finer points of set up.

What HDMI input would I connect a cable box to for best picture?

I have mine hooked to a FIOS set top box through connection HDMI 4. But, just to satisfy yourself I would try them all to see which picture you like the best.
I believe somewhere in the comments section there is a message response from Hisense recommending the correct HDMI port for certain connections.
