I spent a few days crawling through my house installing these cameras (Night Owl 1080p HD, 8 cameras, 2TB HD) I checked every single camera before actually crawling through my attic to run wires. No issues. I got everything mounted, hooked up, and looking good. Until....I went to set up my mobile app.
The mobile app works (Android) to view cameras, but is very limited in actual operations to me. I bought these cameras to be able to monitor my home when I am both in the house and gone. The MAIN thing I wanted to work is push notifications, this TOTALLY DOES NOT WORK on the Night Owl HD mobile app for me on my phone. I keep getting a register error.
I went to the Night Owl website to register my product, put in all the info, and guess what, there is NOTHING that lets me know if my product was registered or not. I went to check the how-to videos, guess what, they don't work either!
I am happy with the cameras, but for $600, I want good support along with a mobile app that actually works. I had to leave my wireless cameras up because they actually do send me push notifications, then when it alerts me, I go and check my $600 Night Owl camera system...
Needless to say, I've had them 5 days, and been installing for 5 days, I BET it will take me ONE day to take them back down and return them...just watch.
Don't buy these cameras if you want to monitor you home from their mobile app, the app alone makes it not worth the purchase.
I opened a chat to get some help, check out the pictures I have attached. You will see they closed my chat window without ever even responding to my chat request!!
I'm soooo upset right now. Nice cameras and DVR....GARBAGE support and mobile app!!
