After a long wait for release in North America...

Anything Dyson that I've owned has been first class. The product last and are easy to service. I'm an experienced robot vacuum owner. I've currently have Neato D80 doing the upstairs and a Samsung 9050 doing the downstairs. The Samsung drive broke, and went back under warranty. I tried the Dyson after reading the marketing info. Having a large pet, I work the robots hard. Lots of area rugs to cover.
The Dyson is significantly smaller than my other robots. The dust bin concerned me because it's tiny. Once I got the app installed on my phone I started the robot. All was OK until it hit the area rugs. It was hopping because the suction was too much for unit. In other words, the space between the brush and the carpet was too close. The unit couldn't maintain distance and started hopping. You've all swept area rugs and heard how the carpet pulls up and too close to the sweeper. Well this unit stumbles and hops. It misses most of the area rug because it's only trying to get through the difficult terrain. The other noticeable issue is that it's too slow. My Samsung is a brute and powers through anything, and does a much better job. Neato? The same thing. Very good on all surfaces. I returned the Dyson and got a replacement Samsung 9050.
Who would benefit the most from this Dyson? People with regular carpet, no area rugs, or a hardwood floor with no area rugs. I'm really disappointed after waiting 2 years for this thing. I have faith in Dyson that they will improve it.

Powerful Sweeper, Spotty Navigation

First off, this is not my first robotic sweeper. I currently use Neato. I bought the 9350 for the 40w vac power. Without hesitation, this is the most powerful robot sweeper I've ever used. Far superior to anything I've seen or used. It's probably close to my Dyson Animal in strength. Now the downside... The sweeper is getting stuck everywhere. Even after ample time to let it map. I have several contemporary rugs that have a large black square pattern. The Samsung sensed these black squares as a drop-off. In other words, the cliff sensors thought is was a stair. The sweeper bounced of the black squares and then got stuck. I removed the carpets, and it worked fine. Problem is, I need it to sweep those rugs! I waited for this sweeper for three months after reading a tech article. Painfully, I had to return the unit. It was of no use to me. My Neato's continue to work flawlessly. If I could take that vacuum power and combine it with the Neato navigation, there's a winner for sure. Three stars.
