This SSD really impressed me, I went from a slloooww 52 second startup running El Capitan to a quick 13 second startup. Everything just pops, and like the "use to be" Walmart express line "no waiting" After buying this drive I did a search on the net for the 10 best SSD and to my surprise this PNY wasn't listed so I went to in-depth search mode and there really isn't any difference, the difference was like the warranty and other non essential things that I care not about. My main concern is speed and it does excellent in that aspect. It's like the retina and non retina screen, doesn't really matter. The reason I say" it doesn't matter" is because the human eye can only detect so much and the older we get the less it will detect. The Samsung was in the top 2-3 SSD but I talked to owners of the Samsung and they told me it isn't worth swapping, the difference is not significant enough nor can you really tell. I did a speed test and this PNY - CS1311 240GB SSD recorded 550MB/sec write and 575MB/sec read speeds, The Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD recorded 540MBs write and 520MB/sec read speeds. Just make sure you enable the Trim and the s.m.a.r.t. feature is automatically enabled by Apple if you use it in your MacBook or iMac, I am using it in my MacBook Pro so I had to go into Terminal and enable Trim.

I installed it in my new MacBook Pro and it worked great, no issues at all, I added a PNY SSD as well with excellent results. It took 52 seconds for it to boot to the desktop now it takes only 13, this is the result of the SSD, ram has no effect on how fast the machine boots.

I can't believe all the whining about how old this is! It comes with the latest software, the OS is El Capitan, it has the 2.5ghz dual core processor with the 2.0 turbo boost it get up to 3.1ghz in speed, if this is to old for you get the latest one with 2.7ghz speed for double what this costs. I installed 16 gigs 55$ and a SSD HD 43$ Traded in my 13.3 white macbook made in 2008 and got 128$ and walked out paying 971$. It takes 52 seconds to boot to the desktop and with the SSD HD it boots in 14 seconds. There is only 4 Mac Pros that have 16 gigs and the cheapest one is 1600$. I like this one because I want the CD/DVD player, its the only one they sale with it. If you trust all your documents stored online then more power to ya!
Those crying about how screwed up this MBP is; it is because they just converted over from PC, hey when anything is new to you it's going to be a little difficult, I hated Apple as well until I learned the OS, I was a windows fan for 30yrs before windows had windows. I went to Linux OS which helps you learn Apple because they are pretty similar. Don't blame it on the MacBook, it does everything you tell it to and it even tells you when your wrong just don't take offense to it.

Those that rate this low is because they have a low knowledge of technical equipment. This is almost identical to the Sony - X1000 HD Action Camcorder, all the specs are so close it isn't worth buying the X1000. The image stabilization is nothing less than excellent. I was blown away by its feature, you can take it in your hand and shake it and the picture remains stable, the best stabilization in a video device I have ever experienced and I have bought many types of video equipment. The WiFi connectivity is quite poor IMO, I don't know why I expected more, I use this for my RC cars and you just have to set the camera to record and cannot use the remote viewing device for instant viewing. The camera takes quite a tumble from the Traxxas Revo and is well protected within the waterproof casing. It's hard for me seeing much improving this camera unless it's the WiFi's distance.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I bought & returned 4 tablets & an iPad in the last 2 weeks thanks to best buy's return guarantee. I know they hate it but they made out because I'm keeping this one. You don't know what you are missing until you do similar or owned a few tablets. This tablet does everything I was looking for in the other tables and much more. I've read the bad reviews and I just can't see their issues, my conclusion is they do not know what they are doing, yes I can see one having issues every once a while but when a company puts out an excellent product it thrives and this is one of thèm. I put this in a Logitech - Logi BLOK Protective Shell for Apple® iPad® mini, iPad mini 2 and iPad mini which is exactly the same size as a apple iPad mini but some simple modifications needed because of button locations etc but an excellent case for this tablet. They are on clearance sale now.
I would recommend this to a friend!

If you are familiar with a PC stay with a PC. Otherwise be prepared for endless hours of wasted time while Apple support helps you over and over again, Best Buy required multiple visits to repair and install things that are simple to do on a PC.

This has nothing to do with bestbuy! , Just the review of the MacBook Air, which I purchased from Apple at the Galleria mall yesterday Jan,18 th 2016 , bought it at 3 pm came home to get on it the disk drive was broke, called support and they told me the best thing to do is return it, which we did ,also bought the airport express that wouldn't work! , and the Apple TV, but with all the problems we took it all back, I don't care for Windows 10 but will stick to that through bestbuy never had problems with them at all!! Love Apple have every iPad and we have 2 iPhone s 6 plus phones never a problem!! Just can't see spending all that money to not even getting on a pc and the disk drive was shot already they wanted to fix it I said no way for a pc that is brand new I said give me another one they said they couldn't just hrs after I brought it! I could just see all the problems down the road just glad my money will return to my bank acct within days!!! Buyer beware!!!

If you own a Windows Computer you might have a chance of success with installing this SSD. It seems that different controllers are used with this model SSD and sometimes the correct firmware is not applied for use with the different controllers. This SSD would not initialize on a 2010 Mac Pro, 2011 iMac or a 2012 Mac Mini, No problems with a Windows Computer.

you did not format it correctly, a drive does not discriminate against Operating systems or brands. You need to leave mac computers alone and stick with PC

I bought this tablet yesterday and after charging it used it to download some apps. It was hot so I let it cool down. All I did was go on Facebook and it was too hot to even touch. This heat comes from the upper right area of the tablet on the backside. I went back to Best Buy and exchanged it hoping it was just mine. The new one did the exact same thing. Taking it back. This is the newer model which has a faster processor than the S2 8.0 710. Not sure if that is the problem but I cannot even hold it, it gets too hot.

you guys need to return them or exchange them, I suggest exchanging them, when you get a good one you cannot find a better tablet period. It shouldn't get HOT but it will get a little warm that's about it but get them back to BB before your 15 days passes.

Do not purchase this model!!! It's a slow "Mid 2012" model. They don't make this known on the website. They expect you to go digging to determine that Model: MD101LL/A was made 4 years ago. Apple markets and sells their computers by name and specs -- not model numbers. Even the rep at the local store said she wonders why Apple & BB continue to sell this computer. Car dealerships don't sell you a 2012 model in 2016. Why is Apple & BB still selling 4 year old computers? Maybe because they overproduced? At the very least, sell them for closeout prices, not $1100. For some reason, Apple and BB are continuing to sell it as NEW. It may be new, but it's a 4 year old computer that's incredibly slow. My iPhone 6 is faster than this thing. On top of it, we purchased BB's Black Friday deal with an open box model with the notion that it was a floor model. Turns out it's refurbished -- an overpriced refurbished computer. We've been using it for one week and the battery already needs to be charged after 2-3 hours of use. Unfortunately, BB won't do anything about it because their "hands are tied" by Apple. They sent me to Apple to deal with it. This is after 4 times on the phone and once in the store.

It's not four yrs old, go to apple and insert your serial# and it will show the build date, mine is may 2016. This model has all the updated software and hardware, check the 2012 built machines and you will see all the different software and hardware. 2012 models don't have the Thunderbolt and USB 3 ports, bluetooth4, I'm not going to list all the changes, it would be easier for you to go and see for your self, also the 2012 model has Lion installed, mine has El Capitan installed.

These are supposed to be the budget SSDs from Toshiba but to be honest I don't see why one should go with the Pro version. These have the same read and write speeds in my tests. Save your money and get the regular Q300.

As a computer, it works well. The display is excellent. This is a rather heavy computer. If you prefer an Apple computer, this will do the job. But I don't think it is better than some other Windows computers that are available for the same money. The first one that was purchased failed after six months. Apple Store personnel were courteous and helpful. However, the computer had to be sent to Apple for repair (six days). When it returned, other problems became immediately apparent. Apple wanted it sent back a second time for repairs. Instead, Best Buy did a remarkable thing: took the defective computer back, and replaced it with a brand new one. Bravo, Best Buy!.

returning this because of it being TLC instead of MLC is ignorance on your part of SSD's, this is one of the faster client SSD's out there, others considered faster are not even 1second faster booting up El Capitan from a cold start. For example this SSD vs the Samsung Pro.

you are not going to find anything significantly faster at this price or anything less than 100$. I have spent ridiculous amount of my money and stupid hours just to research faster SSD's and the Samsung Pro doesn't even cut a second off of the cold boot up times of El Capitan or Windows 10.

I want to upgrade the memory to 8gb or 16gb right away. Is that possible to do it myself ? I also want to upgrade the hard disk drive to 256 solid state (flash) from the 500gb conventional drive. Can I do that myself ?
yes, get the 16gig PNY package, works great with no errors and yes to the SSD, easy upgrade, unplug the old and plug in the new, I also went with the PNY 240gig, great price and just as fast as all the other SSD for sale here. I went from a 52 second boot up to a 13 second boot up in El Capitan and a 17 second boot up in Sierra Beta 7. Very stable and dependable

Is this compatible with a Macbook pro 13.3 inc 2012 version non retina?
yes, your MBP boots from your password page to El Cap in 52sec with the factory HHD and boots in 13sec with this SSD. Everything improves that concerns hard drive processing even my youtube watching because of the writing speeds.

What Sony Alpha cameras does this work with? My Sony A580 DSLR takes Wi-Fi memory cards so would this wrist remote work with it? It does video as well as stills.
