Finally K.O.D. is out and didnt disapoint at all, great lyrics, good feature artists (mesh good with 36-mafia, king gordy and the strange music family w/ newly signed artist Brotha Lynch Hung). The production keeps stepping up. Good enough that I WONT call it a great underground album, its GREAT album one of the best of 09.
Soulchild is at it again, great written songs, the cd just flow. I didnt have to fast forward really at all. My personal fav. "dear john" its about 2mins ish but well worth it.
What's great about it: If its not broke, dont fix it...
What's not so great: Musiq could of left the song "radio" off of it.
The Rev. Green done it this time, hooking up with ?uestlove (The Roots) for this album was the best thing since grits (no pun intended), they brought back the organ and basic drums, very soulful and it didnt hurt to have John Legend Or Anthony Hamilton on it either. No its not an gospel album, straight soul. I would recommend to anyone thats a fan a just great soul music.
This is a great Sunday cd or of you just chilling with your lady/guy, i was expecting at least one Kanye beats since he made "Flashing Lights". Great vocals, great lyrics. Dont let the cover fool you this is NOT a rap cd. Straight R&B at its best!
What's great about it: It's Dwele G!!!
What's not so great: Some of the songs are too short.
Now if he can quit name dropping that would be sweet, dont get me wrong its cool to give credit where its due but not alllllll the time. The Game did rep Cali to the fullest on this cd but too many guest it could of been a comp. cd. So If Game plans on quitting after this cd (so he says for now) then he didnt go out with a bang (i.e. The Black Album).
What's great about it: It's not a pop as you think....
Its not really too much that needs to be said that has not already been said. Kids...if you were born in the 90's you NEED to listen to this album and hear and lean what an album SHOULD sound like.
What's great about it: How much time do you have???
