I briefly researched this purchase and the Fridgidare was the best rated dehumidifier on several websites. I got the 70 pint model as I have approx. 1800sf of living space. The indoor humidity reached 72% this morning and has been averaging 65% for well over a week. I've had this thing running for a little over 3 hours and it's already filled the water collector container nearly 1/2 full and brought the humidity down to 58%. With the potential damage to the home, namely to my pricey laminate flooring and the harmful health issues that arise with high indoor humidity levels, this purchase was a no brainer. With the fan on high, it's not obnoxiously loud and being winter, the return air coming out of it is close to room temperature (68 degrees#. I like the auto shut off feature and the alarm that tells you the water container is full. With my floor, water spills if not cleaned up right away, would ruin it.
It is a very nice looking item, and while a bit heavy #52 lbs or so) it has a very sturdy handle on top to not only lift it out of the box easily, but to move it around when needed. I'm impressed with features such as setting a desired humidity level, 3 fan settings and a timer.
It easily runs on a 15A circuit if that's all you have available but a 20A would probably be a better option. Electricity is expensive in my part of California, so I'm hoping the EnergyStar rating keeps that still unknown in check. Realistically, with my only other option being running my a/c with 50 degree outside temp, whatever it is it will be worth it.
If you're like me and can't afford a sophisticated humidity control system in your home, this appliance is the best bang for your buck.
I would recommend this to a friend!
