The War of the Worlds gets a update and location switch from the novel to 1950"s Los Angeles from Victorian London. Beyond that much of the eerie atmosphere of the novel is well translated. Acting, screenplay, effects all line up like a trio of Martian war machines to cut through all resistance.

Life here on earth can be an adventure too. So begins the Sarah Jane Adventures. One of the best and most beloved of Doctor Who's companions returns with a new set of adventures. Though supposedly a series aimed at younger viewers, there is much to recommend for older viewers who remember Sarah Jane from Dr Who. The series never talks down and features excellent writing and acting. There are a number of great extras especially the history of Sarah Jane Smith. K9 is not in the series much but does manage to drop in and prove that he is a good doggie.
Universal has given the "Classic Monster" DVD treatment to a 1948 film, also featuring Bela Lugosi as Dracula and Lon Chaney Jr. as the Wolf Man (the Mummy was apparently too wrapped up to participate), that many consider Abbott and Costello's best. The black-and-white film, which has Dracula trying to replace the Frankenstein Monster's (Glenn Strange) brain with the pliable brain of Costello, is presented in ordinary 1.33:1 full frame format and slightly enhanced Dolby Digital 5.1 sound. Where the special treatment occurs is in the inclusion of both a making-of documentary (full of behind-the-scenes tidbits) and a feature-length commentary (by film historian Gregory W. Mank), as well as production notes, production photographs, and cast/filmmaker biographies, just like in Universal's heavyweight "Classic Monster" series. Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein is often considered one of the top horror-comedies of all time, and this respectful DVD version shows that Universal has no desire to bite the hand that's feeding them.

The perfect synthesis of comedy and horror. The two genres meet and each does what it does best. Abbott and Costello are at the top of their game as a comedy duo. The monsters play absolutely straight to them. The DVD is amazing and loaded with extras to satisfy any fan.

This is a brilliant version of one of the best movies ever made in my opinion. Abbott and Costello are at the top of their game here and the monsters act as their straight men. Two totally different genres manage to merge and make magic.
The second season of Glades follows Chicago detective Jim Longworth's (Matt Passmore) adventures relocating to South Florida. In addition from dealing with a caseload that includes homicides involving suspects ranging from NASCAR drivers to sideshow freaks, Jim and Callie's romantic life is threatened when Callie's husband is released from prison.
The set compiles every episode from the fifth and final season of Eureka, the sci-fi inflected comedy series about a seemingly normal town that happens to be home to all of the great scientific geniuses of their time.
This release from the critically acclaimed sci-fi series Battlestar Galactica features all 20 episodes of the show's fourth season, following President Laura Roslin and Commander William Adama as they spear head humanity's ongoing struggle for survival against the race responsible for humanity's near-complete destruction, the Cylons.
