Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G Standard Lens: Whether you're a beginner or professional, you'll love this compact, lightweight lens from Nikon. The normal angle of view captures approximately what the human eye sees, making it a great all-around lens. Plus, the f/1.8 maximum aperture is ideal for creating softly blurred backgrounds and shooting in low light.

Must have lens

If you own a DX camera, then this is a "must have" affordable lens. Excellent picture quality very similar to the 50mm 1.8. I love this lens for its sharpness and comfortable focal length.

Very good lens

I have tried the 105mm VR macro before getting this. Even though this may not get you as much a 105mm would, this is still an excellent lens comparing the extra dollars you be saving with this. I have compared the macro capabilities in low light and was impressed with its abilities. I would recommend using this on a FX camera as it would serve you as a all-round lens.

Awesome Camera

If you are looking to take pictures as a beginner to a serious enthusiast, this camera serves you all what you need. I got this used with low shutter actuations recently for my wife, and I am very pleased with its performance. It almost has all the features of my D750 except that this is a crop sensor.

Not a bad lens
on February 13, 2016

I had to return my first piece due to it being having a very tight twist to get it mounted. Unlike my other lenses, this lens would mount, but with lot of pressure. I had to return it fearing that it would damage my camera. Have no issues with this second piece. Took a few shots inside and it seems to do what its supposed to. I love the 1.8 aperture which produces this nice bokeh.
Even though this is meant more for portrait purposes, I am planning to take some outdoor shots soon hoping it won't disappoint me.

Great Multipurpose Lens

Got this along with my D750 included in the kit. This is a awesome lens you can carry around for pretty much most of the tasks. The constant f4.0 does an excellent job from wide to zoom in for any light situation.

How does this lens work on a DX camera?

This is for my Nikon D5500. I see it can be used for both DX and FX cameras. I want to know how this lens will affect the image on a DX camera?
You would be able to use this lens on your 5500 without any issues. This is a normal lens on a FX camera, but on your 5500 it would act more like a 75mm lens, which still is very good range for portraits.
