The pros and cons and brightness problems
on December 16, 2016

I purchased this computer last week when the discount was $250.00 which was great and here are the pros and cons :
Pros : 1. The aluminum case has a more upscale look then the competition. 2. Boot up time is terrific, 3. With the SSD, this lap top is quiet and cool, 4. I like the multi dimming feature of the keys, 5. This lap top is free from bloat software and easy to set up.
Cons : 1. This lap top as with most lap tops that are brand new have dimmer screens that are around 70 percent of the brightness of our one and two year old lap tops. This really hampers the viewing experience for me even at max brightness settings. I have chatted with tech support and their explanation was that the manufacturers are attempting to extend batter life by dimming the brightness. One tech also informed me that there was a liability issue out there of eye damage from the brighter screens. 2. This computer is not for gaming as it is laggy. I am sitting on the fence with this one and will probably return it.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great touch screen laptop
By LaptopBuyer
This laptop is very sleek in style and has the look of a MacBook with the windows OS which I like. It fits great in a backpack, isn't too heavy, has nice battery life and overall is a great buy.

Review of the HP Envy 360 with the I7 chip,
November 27, 2016
I purchased the lap top for $699.00 around three days ago and will probably return it due to its poor brightness. My family and I just did a side by side comparison with a two year old HP Envy lap top and my guess is the new lap top is around 65 percent as bright as our old one. After returning to Best Buy to check the brightness on the other brands it appears that all of the lap tops are suffering from a lower level of brightness. I checked to make sure that all the lap tops were on maximum brightness settings. Someone from the Geek Squad informed me that that change happened in the software to make it safer for our eyes. Maybe there is potential litigation out there or there is some other reason for this recent change.
The speed of the machine is terrific and it looks nice for a discounted price of around $700.00 but I would not pay more for this machine. Sound quality is decent and it is nice to see that HP moved the speakers back on top.
Hopefully after enough consumers complain about the brightness the problem will be solved and until then I will probably keep using our two year old HP Envy which we love.
