Great Shelf System
on June 19, 2017

Looking for a Shelf system with out detachable speakers? This is it. Looked at the Bose Wave Music System IV and the Yamaha TSX-B235, The Insignia is only missing AM radio and random mode on the CD/MP3 player. The sub-woofer makes up for those short comings. Better sound and more inputs than the Bose and less then a third the price. Better sound than the Yamaha and less then half the price. How can you beat that?
Pros – Sub-woofer / Price
Cons – Size, no Random mode

The manual does not tell you all the features and how to get to them. After playing with the system for a while, I found the Random mode. Works on CD and USB. Keep pressing the Repeat button. The last item that comes up is Random mode. That only leaves size as the only Con.

this have bass and treble

It does not have a bass, treble or loudness setting. It does have an equalizer with settings for Flat, Pop, Rock, Jazz and Classical. If the a system has decent fidelity, you won't need any of these things to make it sound good. A true High Fidelity system sounds fine without them. I've tried all the equalizer settings, turning it off (Flat mode) sounds great. At 20W per channel and 40W for the sub-woofer, you get enough power without the amplifiers getting saturated and clipping. Note, your average car stereo is 8 - 12 watts per channel. This should give you a sound density comparison.
