I bought this projector for my theater room. It works great with the lights on or off . Before I purchased a screen I used it on a dark color (brown ) wall and it showed just as good of a pic than the screen. I also bought an Amazon Fire stick to turn my projector into a smart projector . I would have given this item 5stars if it had a 2nd HDMI port
