Headache

Talked with Samsung service twice with no help. Hit or miss playing a BluRay disc. Storage faults or would not load the disc. I did a hard reset twice and it still had an issue. I put in a different disc and it had the same issue. Same disc worked on sons PlayStation 3. Returned to store and purchased Sony BluRay player. Evidently some players work with no problems. Guess I just received a bad one or it didn't like being attached to a 55 inch Sony XBR. No more Samsung for me.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

My TV is not 3D, will the blu-ray player make it 3D?

if you do not have a 3D television, a 3D player will not make your television 3D. However the 3D player will make the picture better on your television. I hope this worked.
