Forget everything you've seen in a Tarzan movie. The character was intelligent and intellectual in the books. Johnny Weismuller's "Me Tarzan. You, Jane" line is embedded in our minds. It had been done once before and twice since, but TARZAN'S GREATEST ADVENTURE really lived up to its name. Gordon Scott is a no nonsense jungle lord who leaves Cheetah behind as he goes off on a quest to find murdering diamond thieves. Among these thieves are Anthony Quayle and young master Sean Connery. But, it's not their movie. Tarzan is as wise as he's supposed to be. There's a beautiful blonde, who isn't Jane. She gets in the way, but doesn't slow the hero down a bit. TGA is satisfying on all levels. It almost seems like a lead in to the 1960s TV series that starred Ron Ely.
