CoffeeRoaster's Reviews

Find out who's at your door, even when you're away from home. Just connect the doorbell via Wi-Fi and use the Ring app on your iOS or Android device to interact with visitors, receive alerts and review footage.

The install was easy but performance was disappointing. The live video was choppy/distorted most of the time, but the recordings were clear. When i did get the alert on my mobile it was too late to see what had triggered it. I would watch the recordings and all i would see was a car driving by my house: no people, only cars. The camera didn't even catch the mail-person delivering my mail (mailbox is 8 feet from camera) but i probably can tell you all of the cars that drive by my house approximately 40 feet from the doorbell. I was able to catch UPS delivering but that was probably because his truck triggered the recording. I did not realize how many cars passed by my house before this cam. Even trying different settings within the software failed to produce good results. I did not like the idea of cloud storage either. It should be ONVIF compliant so it can be added to an existing surveillance recording system since it is already on my network, or be able to point it to a NAS. The camera would benefit from being able to tilt, or swivel, to accommodate various doorbell position scenarios. The phone app seemed to work well (Android version). I like the idea of a video doorbell however after reading reviews of other similar products it appears the issues i experienced with Ring is common with them as well.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
