Great Film
on December 11, 2016

Wild africa looks 4k great and is very similar in style as the planet earth movies. Tiny giants tell stories of a mouse and another of a squirrel, and the 4k isnt as good because its shot at night conditions, but the story is really cool and engaging. Wolf mouse vs scorpian is cool. Each segment is about 40min.

Great but overpriced
on November 20, 2016
Posted by: Annonymous
It seems overpriced because its really not that necessary for bass. The soundbar itself has plenty of bass. I actually had to lower the bass level on the sub. The sub is still pretty loud with very deep lows, however I think the board of the enclosure should have been thicker because it doesnt sound very solid. Although its very heavy, it doesnt seem very sturdy for its unique design, meaning the hole in the middle makes the air pressure inside less uniform causing "turbulence" inside the box.
Comparison: Interesting appearance, but the Bose acoustimass sub sounds better and deeper.

Best Soundbar out there
on November 20, 2016
Posted by: Annonymous
Review for sounbar only, but with the sub is great also.
PROS: (outweigh cons)
-No ethernet cable needed for setup.
-Wifi connection to phone app is very convenient, but the navigation isnt too simple.
-Night mode, and voice mode for TV.
-Equalizer adjustment of treble/bass
-Has big bass without need for the separate sub, especially if in a small room
-A+ for highs and midrange frequencies. A- for lows.
CONS:
-No separate remote for volume control. Didnt work w/ my 2015 LG magic remote, but does with xfinity remote.
-No HDMI connection, but really not needed for just 5.1 sound. BUT what happens if optical input breaks? get warranty..
-No Blutooth.. BUT according to manual, its not needed. Theres a way to connect phone directly to soundbar without blutooth or even an internet connection.
-Easier to setup and use, and better sounding than the Bose 300.
-Soundbar is too tall, so i had to tilt back sideways so it wont block my TV screen(but no difference in sound quality!)
-Not visually appealing like the Bose 300, but still puts out!
Side notes: The SUB setup procedure didnt work through phone app, only through my pc. Judging only on sound quality, I had the bose300 and sony st9, and sonos wins it.

The SoundTouch® 300 soundbar looks slim. But the sound? Anything but. That’s because every cubic inch of it is packed with technologies that make everything you listen to or watch sound clear and spacious. It starts inside with custom-shaped speakers that keep the profile low and pump out big sound. QuietPort™ technology virtually eliminates distortion so you hear surprisingly deep bass. And Bose® PhaseGuide® technology makes you believe you’re hearing sounds where there are no speakers. On the outside, the glass top and perforated wrap-around metal grille make the soundbar look as good in your room as it sounds. And with both Bluetooth® and Wi-Fi® technology built in, you can wirelessly stream music any way you prefer. ADAPTiQ® audio room calibration from Bose ensures the soundbar sounds the best it can in the space you put it. HDMI™ connectivity with 4K pass-through keeps your system compatible with the most current technology. NFC provides quick and easy pairing. The SoundTouch® app gives you simple control over your favorite music. Works together with other SoundTouch® speakers so as you go from room to room, your music goes along with you. Includes a universal remote so you can control your other devices, too. Available in Black

Very good but not perfect
on November 4, 2016
Posted by: Annonymous
Pros: Very clear low mids. Gets very loud. Voices are good for TV and movies because of the strong deeper voice tones.
Cons: High mids seem to be missing. Not enough highs, which don't seem very present especially in music. IMO this unit is useless without the bass module for music with strong beats or for watching action movies.
*If all you need is a soundbar, you wont get any deep bass that you can get from a $100 one with its own built in subwoofer. Also, its not worth buying for $700 if you dont plan on also buying the bass module.

For the price, Very Good not great
on November 4, 2016

If it was only 300 bucks, then it would be a 5 star rating, but its not.
Pros; Lots of highs.Crisp voices. Good for watching TV and movies. User friendly remote, many options but without having to be a tech wiz to understand. The easy remote alone makes me want to keep this soundbar. Pairs on its own with sub.
Cons; Not as loud as it looks, but still loud. Minimal if any midbass. Bad for music because of the frequency gap that seems to be missing (midbass and lower mids). Starts to roll off only at about 40hz using a tone generator (not surprising from only a 7" sub). Cannot connect to a different sub. The passive sub driver is useless, there should have just been a port for lower bass. The bass isnt very sharp either.
I will try to figure out if theres a setting to keep the soundbar from shutting off on its own only after a few minutes of non use, otherwise that alone will make me return this unit.
*Sidenote- The Bose 300 soundbar has a deeper/better/bigger separate subwoofer, but this sony has better highs. I have both

Too unrealistic in any aspect. This would be one of those 2 star rated sci fi movies on netflix. It would only be entertaining to an audience age 13 and under because it has lots of cool aliens, guns and flying, unfortunately for the producers its rated PG13. Visually cool, yet a terrible movie with or without expectations from part one. The ending tops it off by spitting at you in the face lol

Im a TV guy and know what a good TV is. Great picture, good sound. Very slight motion blur, but you wont find much better on just a 32" size. Using it as a monitor, be sure to set it to Game mode for no input lag. 1080p is the way to go regardless of viewer distance, especially for monitor. calling back to get the price match difference now that its on sale ;)

But so far its perfect. everything is good about it. I dont videogame but still very fast performance. 5G connection makes the internet about 2x faster over 2.4G for this thing. The video quality is great, but the display itself has no specialty to it. It has a sweet spot angle, everywhere else has the effect as if there is very light dew on it, kinda like glitter. kinda expensive but if the screen wont bother, its a trade.

This film was not finished in 4k.
By JarekZabczynski
Many recent UHD Bluray titles will be unconverted from 2k masters and won't actually be 4k. This is simply because many recent films shot digitally were not shot at 4k or above resolution but only 2k. Even many films that have been shot on true 4k or even film, only had visual effects and post production done at 2k. Fox Home Entertainment has already admitted that The Martian 4k release is being made from 2k assets.
https://twitter.com/FinnJ/status/686724096059559937
The Martian does not currently exist in 4k, stick with the 1080p version for now.
Please do your homework before purchasing "4k" Blurays.

Thanks for the info. I agree. 1. Not all TVs have HDR, and 2. the new 4k blurays may look better, but if not actual 2160 resolution, then its deceitful advertising. Not every consumer likes being lied to. I think the movie makers just want to profit through false 4k claims made to 4k TV consumers. I think it would be fair for the movie makers to just call them UHD blurays, without the extra "4K" label. My question is, what label will they put on blurays shot with actual 4k cameras... Super-Duper UHD 8K?? ;) Also Jarek If you have anymore sources for information, please post them for more and credible clarification.

Awesome quality, but....
By thirumala72 from Ashburn, VA
First good part, the picture and sound quality are pretty awesome which is as expected. There is very good improvement even on the streaming services like netflix, amazon etc. Amazon video takes about 30 seconds to display HD quality as it buffers until then.
But I would like to highlight the negative part. I use VUDU a lot. But this player has issues connecting to VUDU. Contacted both VUDU and Samsung for this. No solution found yet. VUDU was fine on my previous Samsung bluray player. Coming to the remote, I agree with the first reviewer. It is small and always end up pressing unwanted keys. Not only that, it has to pointed almost direct to the player which is very bad. Other Samsung players remotes were much better. This player needs kind of line of sight to work.
Otherwise, it is a pretty awesome player

is this item physically in stores as of Feb 11? I see it says in store pickup unavailable. As for samsung making tiny remotes, i think it shows they dont care much about the western consumers. In Asia they tend to have smaller hands, plus from a design aspect a smaller remote signifies more intimacy, refinement, and conformity with its user.

Poor WiFi and Motion Issues
By HerbieBoy
Very pleased with picture in most cases. Problems with motion, especially during fast panning. Can not read player names when camera moves even slightly using expert 1 defaults. WiFi is very poor, 1 mbit per sec using speed test app. Netflix is almost unwatchable. My Roku right next to TV is pristine. Speed test via my tablet right next to TV is over 50 mbit per sec. I am a fios customer. I have an AC router, so that is up to date. I expected better from a TV I paid 3K for.

Stunningly Beautiful 3D
By davidbe
This has often been called the best TV in the world today and it certainly seems so to me, and for me it was worth every penny of the purchase price. I even like to watch commercials on it (although I’m sure I will get over that soon enough!). My wife says she doesn’t like the TV – she loves it!
I had heard people report repeatedly that this TV has the best 3D ever produced (note that it requires a 4K TV to get passive 3D in full high definition). I figured 3D would be cool and fun to watch but still figured it would be something of a novelty. What I wasn’t prepared for is how stunningly beautiful 3D is on this set. With a good 3D movie it looks like a completely natural, crystal sharp, full HD picture, but it’s in 3D. We’ve all seen 3D in the theater, but this is just a different experience, a thing of beauty. With several 3D movies so far I have had to pick my jaw up off the floor afterwards.
The model 65E6 is not cheap, but it is the cheapest 2016 OLED that has both a flat screen and 3D. So it was a no-brainer that this was the model for me to replace my old 50-inch plasma set. And I’m extremely happy with my choice.
Having said all this, there are some caveats to this TV. LG’s quality control is not the best, and I recommend buying it at a place that has a good and easy return policy (like Best Buy) just in case. I researched this TV very thoroughly before buying it, and here are problems people are reporting in internet forums that require exchanging the set:
1. Faulty 3D filter resulting in 3D crosstalk (double image or ghosting) where there is no viewing angle that avoids it, particularly too narrow a vertical viewing angle where you get crosstalk either at the top or bottom of the screen no matter what angle you view at. It is normal to get some crosstalk on some movies, but persistent crosstalk in particular parts of the screen is not normal or acceptable.
2. An off-color (especially green) tint when viewed from a side angle (check facial skin tones for this).
3. Random white flashes (a single frame of full-screen white) that can occur as infrequently as every other day or you can’t get through a movie without getting one or two. If this is infrequent enough, it may not bother you even if you do have it.
Fortunately I did not have any of these problems, so I’m one happy camper.

Very good player, but with a few quirks
By bferr from MA
Overall, as a UHD and Blu-ray player, I think this is a better choice than the Samsung model I tried, but it does have a few quirks of its own. One, it shuts off automatically after a short period of inactivity. As far as I can tell, this timer function cannot be defeated, and it makes integration and control with a Harmony universal remote difficult. Two, disc auto-start at power on cannot be disabled. Three, there are only two built-in apps at the moment-- Netflix and YouTube; I'd like to see more choices but there's no guarantee that more are coming. Four, when switching to the Netflix app, half the time I get a screen full of snow that can only be remedied by switching my AV receiver to another input, then back to the Philips' input. This only happens half the time regardless of the HDMI cable used, and regardless of whether the player is connected to the TV directly or running through my Pioneer AV receiver. And finally, less than stellar compatibility with playable file formats from a USB drive. My Oppo player had no issues there, and neither did the Samsung UHD unit.
Overall, if you're looking strictly for a no-frills stop-gap disc spinner with little other utility, then this is the player for you. The price is fair for the functionality.
Recommended to those who can live with the aforementioned shortcomings.

Four IMAX films mastered in 4K Ultra HD on one Blu-ray. In Antarctica on the Edge, Tilda Swinton narrates a tour of the icy continent's vast sweeping landscape. In Titans of the Ice Age, Christopher Plummer narrates this re-enactment of what life was like for prehistoric humans and their mammal quarry in the Ice Age. And in Great White Shark, underwater cameras get an up-close look at the often misunderstood ocean predator.

Can you buy a blu-ray player and not have it hooked up to the internet. Only play movies.

I bought a Blu-ray player and it would only work if hooked to the internet. I took it back to best buy in Bryant, AR and was told that you can no longer buy Blu-ray players without hooking them to the internet to get updates. I just want to play my movies. I had a blu-ray player that did that but it no longer works. Thank you for your help.
