Super Quiet, Super Small

We got this for our very small ski condo. A quiet appliance was of utmost importance to my husband - since the kitchen/dining and livingroom are basically all in one space. So, we shelled out the extra bucks for a Bosch. We've been using it for three weekends now. The Bosch is amazingly quiet. You pretty much can't even tell that it is on. Auto mode does seem to create a little noise, but when set to Normal, it goes into Stealth mode . It does an excellent job of cleaning. And, I was very happy to read the manual's explanation of its built-in "leak protection system". So, I needn't worry about it causing flooding for us or our downstairs neighbor. I would, without hesitation, buy a Bosch again.
My only qualm with the machine is that it *is* quite small and I'm still learning how to load it to maximize space. For two adults and two kids, using it on weekends, with mostly pre-prepared meals that we bring up from home - it is the right size. However, I did just go out and buy a set of extra-short drinking glasses (3" high) so they would fit and allow the extra shelf to flip down for another row on top of them. Teacups work nicely, but mugs are too high for that side with the flip-down shelf. I have thought, as I stand there figuring out how best to configure the plates and bowls... 'You know, I could have just hand-washed these by now...' I'm hoping that with a little more use I'll get it sorted out and it will be a quick load-up and wash scenario.
If you can make the space for it, I'd recommend getting a standard-sized model. If you can't, and you need a quiet machine - the Bosch is a good choice.
