LG High-Efficiency Washer: Toss clothes in the wash, select 1 of 8 cycles and 5 temperature settings via touch-screen controls and make fast work of laundry. Use the delicates cycle to wash sensitive items and the quick-wash cycle when you're short on time.

We pick this model after quite a research to replace our 10 years old Calypso which has been acting up lately. As for any appliance, I would budget about $10/mo cost before looking for the replacement. The Kenmore Elite Calypso meets that objective, both washer and dryer are still OK, however it is cost effective to replace them before the breakdown, especially when the new ones are on sale and have better technology.
We selected this LG model WT1501CW, 4.5 cub.ft this time. It is the WT1101CW on steroid, which has great review from customer and CR.
We add in $90 for extended warranty (reason later on). Best buy did good job deliver on schedule and installation at no charge. Very happy with that service. Peace of mind with all the accessories are brand new with the units.
The washer and dryer function as we expected, the key item is unit leveling on solid floor. That leads to good balance during spinning which reduce noise. This unit run so quietly that we wouldnot notice, the dryer is still noisy noticeably, naturally. Clothes are cleaned and reasonably dry at finishing.
One concern is the control pannel, fact that LG makes it easy to replace it, raise the flag on me. So I bought the extended warranty just for those two insert at the front pannel. I don't know how fast those control buttons would worn out. If you are less than 5'6 like us, you would struggle a bit to get a baby sock at the bottom of the drum while avoid activate the buttons with your tummy. I will watch for mechanical fatigue of this washer because it has lot of reverse motion (induce cyclic fatigue) and wear and tear. Again, good balance would mitigate the mechanical fatigue quite a bit. Hopefully this one would last more than 15 years, but I doubt it.
I would recommend this to a friend!
