None of the other happy campers leaving the five star reviews are exaggerating when they say good things about this router. Right away I noticed it made a huge difference in the speed of my home network.
My previous router, which I purchased a few years ago, was supposed to be high end. It blipped out easily, I couldn't work easily in my home office while someone was streaming a movie in the living room. So what did I do? Blamed the cable provider. Though I still think they are evil, my blame was probably misplaced. I ran a little speed test plugging in my computer directly to the cable modem. I got the speeds the cable provider promised and my suspicions turned to my router. I remembered an article I read a few weeks ago about how technology outpaced most routers on the market and how many of us shell out cash for faster internet but are hobbled by our LANs' effectiveness: a bit like taking a bicycle out on the autobahn. I decided that if I was going to replace my router I wasn't going to cheap out. My need for reasonable network speeds was too great. I did my research, I read the reviews on here. Being a new product, there weren't many but I figured I'd add to the chorus of folks who are pleased as punch with the AC5300. The speeds I'm getting now are ridiculously fast with minimal loss between what the direct to cable modem offers and the actual wifi speeds I experience.
I've got an old repeater in my home office to deal with the devices that need to be wired, but are nowhere near the modem. I'll admit, the repeater is no spring chicken technology-wise either, and even it seems pretty darn fast now. The difference is night and day. I get a full wireless signal on the sidewalk in front of my house now, even in 5 GhZ band. The four big thick antennas sure seem to throw a strong signal, but you should know, as routers go, this thing is a beast. If you only have space for a regular-sized router you may want to consider another model. Sure, it's got a stupid name (Nighthawk? Really?) and looks like the industrial designer took his cues from the same people who dreamed up Darth Vader's suit or Borg Collective cube ships. It may look kind of menacing, but so far it's been all good. This little baby can assimilate me any day.

I would recommend this to a friend!
