Very nice enclosure
on May 1, 2016
Posted by: Ivko
It's a good enclosure. Nice blue led light that shows when a hard drive is working and is on constantly. It's easy to unscrew the case and to attach hard drive. I put my old 500gb 5400rpm 2.5" into it and it's working great, no issues at all. Just when you unscrew the top part and the bottom part, everything comes out including the board with SATA connector, so be careful and do not panic since it is made that way. Once you attach your HD screw everything back and it should work just fine. USB 2.0 / 3.0 compatible.

Fast and Light

PNY 240gb Internal is a great product. I bought one for my MacBook Pro early 2011 and the difference from my previous 500gb 5400rpm is amazing. OS boots up in less than 10 seconds. Apps are opening up 5-6 times faster and of course no noise at all since it does not have any mechanical moving parts. Have tested the drive with BlackMagic speed test and first results are Write: 480, Read: 520. After the first result Write drops to 185 and Read stays in 500's. No need for extra warranty since it already comes with 3 years manuf. warranty, plus in 3 years 1TB SSD will probably cost $60, why spend extra money on something you will change in 3-4 years.

Great adapter
on May 1, 2016
Posted by: Ivko
I have been using the adapter for over a week now and so far so good. I have connected my MacBook Pro with Dell external 24" monitor through HDMI and the picture is clear and sound is great. The only thing I did not like is when I connected the computer with my 46" Samsung LED, the picture is not good, colors were distorted, but when played a movie everything was fine. I hope the cable will last for a long time.

Very good monitor for the price
on May 1, 2016

Dell S2415H is a nice glossy monitor. It is easy to setup and easy to use. It supports HDMI and VGA (check specification section for more input details). Resolution fits nicely on 24", no bleeding, no blur. no mixed colors on fonts as on 27" with the same resolution. IPS works fine. Sound is not bad at all once connected to HDMI. Back side of the monitor is made of plastic, nothing significant. It is possible to adjust the view angle, but not the height. If you are looking for Apple or other expensive monitors quality with excellent contrast and brightness and colors, then Dell monitor is not the answer, but it is somewhat close to it. I keep mine on 100-brightness and 100-contrast, 100-R, 100-G, 100-B to be able to get that "kind of Apple" feel. It's great for web browsing, games, office use and more. It definitely is very good considering the price.

Not a great product, but good one
on October 11, 2015

I bought this monitor 5 days ago. First impression after unpacking it was "wow". It looks great for below $300. Circular stand is nicely done, material that Asus used to build the monitor are not bad. It has 2 HDMI's , 1 VGA, and audio ports, which is not that bad for non professional user. Colors are fine, backlit quality not bad. Just because it is 27" does not mean you will enjoy the view. The problem is resolution. 1920x1080 on 27" monitor (this one) produce color distortion around fonts especially and while watching movies. Resolution for 27" should be at least 2560x1440, but again these monitors are around $500-600. I will go with 23 or 24" monitor with 1920x1080 resolution. 27" on that resolution is only marketing trick. 60Hz is standard refresh rate for almost every monitor, so don't let that discourage you. 5ms response is standard as well for IPS monitors which is not too important at all. Some monitors on 8ms works better than those on 5ms. Overall, it is very good monitor. Even if you buy it, you wont make a mistake.
PROS:
- Nice design
- Adjustable stand (horizontally only)
- Nice backlit (brightness/contrast)
- Great for web surfing, text processing, reading
- Good for gaming
CONS:
- Distorted colors around fonts (1920x1080 on 27") not a good way to go
- Not great for watching movies
- Not great for Graphic design
- Too expensive for overall specs
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Does anyone know what model harddrive do they put inside the box?

The box is empty. You can put any HD model as long as it is 2.5" SATA Hard Drive.

Is this compatible with a Macbook pro 13.3 inc 2012 version non retina?

Yes it will. It works on any SATA connector, and 2012 version is one of them . I got one for my 2011 MacBook Pro.

Maximum 21:9 resolution on Mac Mini?

I want to use the LG 29-inch ultra wide monitor with a 2012 Mac Mini at 2560x1080. The Mini's HDMI port only supports up to 1920x1080. Will this adapter enable me to use the monitor at 2560x1080 through the Mini DisplayPort?
Cannot say 100% but i think it will, although colors may be distorted. I have connected it to 24" 1920x1080 and everything was great, but on 46" TV colors were distorted not good at all.

I'm connecting this to a laptop dock as a second monitor.

I don't have another VGA port. My only option is HDMI. The description indicates that this comes with an HDMI cable but in the specifications it says only VGA. Will this work with a HDMI input from a laptop dock?
Yes. You can connect any HDMI Windows PC or Macbook with mini display port to HDMI. As long as your computer ends up with HDMI cable ready to be connected, you will be fine.

Does the monitor have a glossy or matte display?

It has glossy display. I personally prefer glossy as the colors are more vivid.

I connected my Dell XPS to this external monitor and the text in word documents is fuzzy.

This will not work. It is one thing to have small text on the laptop. But very large fuzzy text is worse. I have read online and found all kinds of suggestions - not that work. If no answer, I will return it.
I would return it immediately and would buy 24" on 1920x1080. 27" are not made to work as we expect them to work on 1920x1080. 2560x1440 are way to go for 27 -29 " displays. $500-600 range.
