Acer 27" S271HL DBID LED HD Monitor: The thin design lets you place this large monitor almost anywhere — even hang it on the wall (wall mount sold separately). Great for playing video games, showing movies, viewing documents side by side, and enlarging photos during the editing process.

Nice size for graphics work

I have two of them and find the color and size perfect for home use. I did not see the reviews that said there were no speakers in them. There is a port for a speaker cable and grills for the speakers but nothing in any of the paperwork or specs from Best Buy indicated that there were no speakers mounted inside. These are great monitors but I wouldn't pay more than two hundred for one.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Where are the controls?

Ok. I'm thinking What Is Going On? Where one usually finds the controls, next to the on/off button on the bottom right, there is only a clear strip of plastic. I checked the manual and it refers to the adjustment controls but never points to them on a picture.
Could it be they scimped to lower the cost? I even Chatted with Acer only to get led in a circle.
put your finger on the monitor off button (blue when power is on) and move it slowly along the bottom (hidden) edge about one finger width. You will feel a slight bump, push up on it to get started. There are three more buttons just to the left of that one.

Do I have to buy speakers. That is odd. That I do not like.

No sound
yes - you have to buy speakers or a headset. the audio input jack is evidently not connected to anything.

There are NO external control buttons on my monitor.

The monitor works fine but there are no control buttons on it. Why not ?
the control buttons are hard to find. They are on the bottom right corner to the left of the blue on/off switch. Put your index finger on the blue switch and slowly move it one finger width to the left until you feel a slight rise. Push up on that little bump and there are three more little bumps to the left of that. It took a while to figure them out and they don't stay on the screen long.
