Decent but I had to return...

I wanted to love this monitor so much but it just didn't happen. I bought this as a replacement to the ASUS PB238Q which I also had issues with. The DELL P2214H drew my eye because of it's size and the amazing stand that swivles and has height adjustment. This was about all I could love with this monitor though.
The fonts were horrendous regardless of my countless attempts at adjusting Cleartext in Windows. The font just looked...off. Nothing was clear or sharp. No amount of tweaking fixed this for me.
I have to say that the color was fairly accurate though and looked pretty good.
If the text issue had resolved somehow I would have kept this but it had to go back. I am thinking of trying another Asus. My hunt for the perfect monitor continues.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I truly wanted to love this monitor when it arrived but I was actually kind of let-down by it. The overall build quality of it was awesome and I can't express how much I truly loved the swivel and height adjust features. They made this hard for me to return. I had a couple problems though. First, my USB ports on this would not work. They were just...dead. This wasn't a HUGE deal to me but it was strike one against the PB238Q.
The next issue was that despite countless attempts at adjusting the settings I could not seem to fix the white balance of the screen. It was always a bit yellow and murky. It didn't look as crisp as it could have. I think a professional calibration tool was required but I could not afford that.
The final strike for me was when I went to play a couple games. I know this is an IPS monitor and they aren't the #1 choice for high action gaming but I had previously been using a 10 year old Dell monitor that blew this out of the water in terms of how it looked while playing. I had massive ghosting and blurry haze while playing on this screen. So much so that I couldn't even continue playing. I actually got dizzy. Something that hasn't happened to me in a long time with gaming on a PC.
This went back. I just ordered another Dell monitor and I'm hoping it has a more crisp, clean look to the screen and that gaming isn't as blurry (even though it's not a gaming monitor).
Sad about this. Loved the build of it but let down by yellow screen and bad ghosting.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

1 year ago, I replaced a 6 yr-old Samsung monitor. A CRUCIAL issue was to have a non-glare screen and large enough to handle two documents such as Word docs in a WYSIWYG, full size manner. Movies and vidz are NEVER blurred/pixilated with the fast refresh rate. My home office is fluorescent and with large windows. The natural light changes throughout the day (southern exposure). I use f.lux and the images are great in all conditions, day or night.
