Excellent Gaming Mouse
on July 6, 2016

The G502 is an awesome gaming mouse but there are two big things about the mouse that stand out to me. The first is how comfortable the mouse is to use. All of my previous mice have been of the extremely small mobile variety and were never very comfortable to use for a long period of time. This mouse is larger and is designed for those with a palm grip. It also sports a contoured left side so that your thumb has a place to rest on the mouse.
The second big feature that stands out to me is the number of buttons on the mouse and what you're able to do with them. Every button on the mouse (including the left, right, and middle clicks) can be mapped to do whatever you want on a per application basis in the Logitech gaming software. This includes simple key presses and key combinations all the way to complex multi-key commands where you can literally record hundreds of key presses and even adjust the timing between presses and the amount of time a key can be held down. The buttons can also be mapped to launch programs as well as execute LUA scripts. This has not only been useful while gaming but has also saved me a lot of time in my programming work as well. I can keep common boilerplate code mapped to the mouse buttons so that all I have to do is hit a button and it'll type in all the code I need for things like for loops and while loops.
The other features like the adjustable weights and the lighting are nice little extras but it's the customizability of the G502 that makes it an awesome mouse to have.
The only downside to the mouse is the price. At the time of writing this review the price of the G502 is $79.99 which will put this mouse out of the range of what most people are willing to spend on a mouse. However, if you use a computer a lot and can benefit from the programmable keys, then it's definitely worth consideration.
