Not enough bang to be priced at $500

I'm not sure if the other people who reviewed these speakers were just delighted at the fact that they now have something cool looking perched atop their existing towers adding a few inches of height, or whether they actually hear a difference. These do not sound anywhere near as good as dedicated in ceiling speakers. I have them paired with bp9020 and tried them with both denon, marantz and yamaha aventage receiver. Tried atmos and dts:x both native and dsp. The towers are already bipolar so it will give a feeling of space so adding these a90's will not have a dramatic effect. If you added the A90 to a traditional tower that wasn't bipolar then yes, you will hear a bit of a difference-but not $500 worth of a difference. I even pressed my ear against the speaker itself to see if the native dolby and dsp verison of it would really push any air but no, it was weak. Calibrating it using Audessey and YPAO as well as by hand also did not make much of a difference. These look fancy and add a bit of spacial imaging but nothing to blow anyones socks off and nothing to brag to your neighbors about when playing an atmos track because they are not going to really hear anything flying overhead. And yes I have low ceilings with acoustic treatment. At the end of the day you will hear what you "want" to hear, and I really wanted to hear something, but I heard.....nothing.....
