Doesn't Wash and Wrinkles My Clothes
on May 18, 2015

Our 25 year old Maytag was starting to show it's age and sadly my mom decided she wanted a shiny new washer instead of having to manually flip a switch every time we did laundry. This is the machine we got after she decided there weren't enough non-high efficiency options out there.
I've had multiple experiences with high efficiency washers while away at college and have grown to dislike them quite a bit. And this washer has proved to be no different than all the previous ones. My clothes seem to come out dirtier then they were before. There's not enough water to keep the dirt suspended, and it doesn't drain enough of the water to take the dirt out- it all gets mixed up in a dirty water stew. And my clothes are always, ALWAYS wrinkled. I line dry a lot of my clothes because they'll shrink in the dryer, which is the only way to get the wrinkles out. So, sadly, it looks like I will once again be ironing everything from my jeans to my t-shirts. I understand the desire to save on water, but when it completely negates the purpose of washing clothes...it doesn't seem like a very good pairing of efficiency and utility. Even if it allowed just 3 more inches of water I think it would be a huge improvement. Looks like I'll be looking up local laundromats that have the old, but entirely functional, washers.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
