Worth it? Maybe.

I unpacked my tripod expecting at least medium-grade plastic, but I found cheap plastic that was sticking together.
The quick-release plate took some manhandling just to pull it out of the tripod because it was so stuck. I doubt this tripod will last me a full year.
Pros: Great-ish for beginners.
Cons: Cheap plastic, Quick-release plate didn't release before prying it out, legs didn't unfold without manhandling the first time.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
