Horrible Battery Life

The only reason I'm not giving this system a 1 Star rating is that it has some great potential. However, unless you are only planning on using this at home, to record just a few minutes of video a day, it is not worth the price point.
The Good :
Good, not great video quality if set on highest battery sucking option.
The night vision is very good, but again, sucks batteries dry like there's no tomorrow. Super easy setup. Nice remote viewing options.Stable.
The Bad:
I own a small business and needed something to be able to monitor when I'm not there and to be able to deter theft. That means the cameras are working approximately 50 hours a week. That also means I needed more than 1GB of cloud space to store videos. I opted for the Premium that cost me an additional $150 for 100GB, which equal 100 hours of video from my 4 cameras. That was sufficient, and although I wasn't super happy about having to throw $150 more dollars into an already expensive setup, I was ok with it. Worked decently for a week. Then the batteries gave low battery warning. 4 to 6 months of battery life? I don't think so. Of course if you dig through Arlo's support forum you can find that figure is based on 4 minutes of camera access a day. Thanks for the deceptive marketing Netgear, You see, CR123s cost about $10 a piece, and since each camera takes 4 of them. It would cost me $8,320.00 in batteries a year.
I guess I'll have to crawl up into the attic and install a wired system after all.

No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Does it record sound?
No. There is no microphone on these cameras. Only video.

Yes, there is an app that works with your iDevice.

How dependable are, and how often do the batteries require re-charge or replacement. Is there a low battery indication transmitted in this event?
Battery reliability..
I have only used mine inside, so I can't answer how well they'll work outside in the elements. The batteries will die within a few days if the cameras are recording or being viewed a lot. You will get a low battery alert and the camera flashes an orange LED when batteries are low. If they are left alone and have minimum motion detection trips, batteries are SUPPOSED to last 4 to 6 months, but that is not my experience at all.

can you dtill have a monitor to display video?
Am I only able to view from a smart device?
You can view video and do various admin actions via apps on smartphones and tablets. You can also access the cameras from any internet connected computer.
