This is a new category for coffee makers

First let me say that I drink a lot of coffee, and I hate the Keurig. It's convenient, and it's very popular right now, which makes me wonder if most people just like weak, carelessly jet-blast brewed coffee in small quantities these days. (Starbucks and good coffee from fast food places is also very popular, so maybe people are just resigned to enjoy easy mediocre coffee until they get out the door).
For years we found the best of both worlds by sticking to regular drip-brewed coffee from a coffee maker that could brew both a pot of coffee or a single cup, but there were still the drawbacks of burnt coffee from sitting on the warming plate or poorly measured water. Drip brewed coffee is just a slower version of the Keurig process anyway, so the coffee is a lot better, but not perfect.
We finally achieved the best cup of coffee we've had at home by switching to a whole new brewing process. Heat the water to a precise temperature, soak the coffee grinds for a while before brewing the coffee through lab-grade filter paper and then serve before it cools down. (Using products from Chemex, which is not an electronic coffee maker. You would find this at World Market instead of Best Buy). This was the best cup of coffee, but quite a bit of work to do first thing in the morning.
When I saw this Ninja coffee maker featured on BestBuy.com as a new product, I immediately recognized the laborious brewing process. They call it 'Auto-IQ' but it essentially is automating what we were doing by hand. A regular coffee maker will draw water from the reservoir through a one way valve and then boil it so that it rises up to where the coffee is and then drips down through to the pot. There's no control over anything until the water runs out. The Ninja draws the precise amount of water from the reservoir (like a Keurig) heats it to the right temperature (maybe like a Keurig), and then follows the process of wetting the grounds, waiting a while, and then brewing at just the right speed to get the coffee how you've selected it (most definitely not like a Keurig, like a Chemex). The filter basket on this Ninja has a more sophisticated drip stop than a normal coffee maker, and it's able to detect when you've closed the drip stop (so no spills, no overflowing), but I suspect that maybe it's able to control this itself to achieve higher concentrations of coffee for the special brew mode.
The ninja also comes with a permanent coffee filter, and milk foamer. That's just pure additional value and with the included recipe book you can create some pretty fancy drinks with just a little extra effort and maybe a trip to the grocery store. That makes it more fun than just a simple pot or cup of good coffee.
So did Ninja rip off Chemex? I don't know, this is just the most scientifically perfect way of brewing a good cup of coffee. The Chemex is a beautifully designed product which still stands proudly on our kitchen counter, but this Ninja brewer is quite a bit easier to get that first pot of coffee going on a busy weekday morning.
How reliable is this coffee maker going to be? I can't say at this point. It's made us some good coffee, but it's only been a few days. We already own a Ninja blender and we trust the brand as being in the super-premium category of kitchen devices, but I didn't hesitate to purchase a Geek Squad extended warranty for this brand new product.

When I purchased my iPhone 6+ I went right to lifeproof's website and got on the waiting for this case. I loved my old lifeproof case for my iPhone 5 and figured the steep price tag was worth the added protection for my phone. I have small kids and needed something that would handle heavy wear and tear as well as offering protection from water for summer days around the pool. I was excited to finally get my case after months of waiting. Within the first week, the flap that seals the charger port from water became warped and would not shut basically rendering it useless. Figuring this was a fluke, I contacted the company and they sent out a new replacement case within a few weeks. Put the new case on and 2 months later the flap to the charger is warped and broken again. I can forgo the lost in volumn and ease of use on the earphone jacks because none of that matters if your phone gets dunked in water because water is still getting in. There goes your $100 Investment. What a huge disappointment this case turned out to be.

Los Santos: a sprawling sun-soaked metropolis full of self-help gurus, starlets and fading celebrities, once the envy of the Western world, now struggling to stay afloat in an era of economic uncertainty and cheap reality TV. Amidst the turmoil, three very different criminals plot their own chances of survival and success: Franklin, a former street gangster, now looking for real opportunities and serious money; Michael, a professional ex-con whose retirement is a lot less rosy than he hoped it would be; and Trevor, a violent maniac driven by the chance of a cheap high and the next big score. Running out of options, the crew risks everything in a series of daring and dangerous heists that could set them up for life.Grand Theft Auto V is the largest and most ambitious game Rockstar Games has yet created and takes full advantage of every ounce of processing power available in the current generation of consoles. In order to provide the best possible experience for such a massive and detailed world, the game will have installation requirements on the Xbox 360. Grand Theft Auto V will ship on two discs; Disc 1 will be used for a one-time mandatory install and Disc 2 will be used to play the game. After the install, players will be able to enjoy both Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online without any need to switch discs. This initial install will require an Xbox 360 hard drive or an external 16GB USB flash drive (sold separately) with at least 8GB of free space. If using a USB flash drive, it must be at least USB 2.0 with a minimum 15mb/s read speed and formatted for Xbox 360 use. A new USB flash drive is recommended to ensure optimal performance.

It's amazing how the next generation of gaming consoles are right around the corner and already being demonstrated, but the most mind-blowing, amazing game has just been released for the near obsolete consoles we already have. This shows that game design will always trump hardware capabilities. It's better to have both, obviously, but great game design with ok hardware is much better than great hardware with an ok game.
I'm a casual gamer with limited time. I've played all GTAs going back to the beginning, but never finished one. GTA V is the absolute best yet, and I'm eager to try to finish this game. The storyline is much more compelling, and when I drop in to just play a mission or two, the missions never feel like every other mission. There's always something cinematic, surprising, and challenging to do. When I'm done and I do a little free roaming, it's amazing the variety of locations it's possible to get lost in. Just get on the highway and race full speed weaving in and out of traffic, stop somewhere and look around and realize that everything to the horizon in every direction can be explored. If it's time to turn off the XBox and you're too far from any safe house, just use the new quick save feature and turn it off. When you come back to it, your progress is saved but the character you were playing might have gone off and done his own thing, so you start from somewhere else altogether. It's possible to lose a lot of hours on this game.
