Frost Free and Quiet!
on July 30, 2015

I ordered my 2.6 cu ft Black Danby Compact Fridge with free shipping from bestbuy.com and received it within a week a little over 2 weeks ago.
So far I love it! I had wanted a frost free fridge and this was the only one available in this price range. I had read reviews on another site that said it was quiet and since that was important to me also, I decided that this was the one for me. I've used several small refrigerators in the last few years and this is the best one I've used. It's frost free which is amazing! I hate those useless little freezers that get filled with ice within a few weeks. This fridge doesn't have a freezer at all, so there's no defrosting necessary and it is really frost free. Look on the yellow Energy Guide Label to see that it's truly frost free. Defrosting refrigerators is not something I have time for, particularly not something I want to have to do on a hard wood floor, like I have now.
The fridge is very quiet, it's not silent, but it's definitely the quietest fridge I've had lately. The sound it makes is pretty subtle.
It's July, but has only been in the 70s and 80s where I've been near the coast, I have the fridge temperature setting at about 70% and it's staying cold at between 30-35 degrees.
The black fridge looks good, I like the design. The top is nice, but not really the right height to use as a work space unless you put the fridge on a low table of some kind. I use it to store light unrefrigerated things.
Now for my complaints and warnings... Be careful about not putting delicate things like lettuce in the back of the fridge, because that's where it gets coldest, it will freeze and ruin lettuce and other delicate fruits and vegetables. I also wish it didn't have all those soda pop can dispensers in the door, they take up valuable space. Soda and beer cans will fit anywhere in the fridge (like in the back to keep things from freezing back there), I don't know why all the little fridges need to waste space with those big can dispensers. I would rather have more room for tall beverage bottles and boxes in the door. I had to take out the small bottom shelf of inside the fridge to make room for tall things.

I would recommend this to a friend!

Why automatic defrost if no freezer?

Someone asked if freezer and the answer was no. But the spec list automatic defrost. Why would you have this if no freezer?
Apparently the design requires the coldest area of the fridge to be concentrated somewhere, in the case of this fridge, it's in the back. A very small amount of frost accumulates in the back, but then it apparently melts into the bottom where it evaporates.

Does this model have a freezer?

Just wondering if there is a freezer in the unit.
It does not have a freezer.
